After the Surf N Turf cruiser event last weekend, I have been thinking about building a trailer up for camping use. I found a M105 that looks decent, but they seem to be a bit wider and longer that something like M100. Anybody out there using a 105 for off road use? Should I pass and look for something else? I was going to buy it Monday. I would be towing with an FZJ80 or a chevy 1/2 ton. I am thinking it is too heavy and big? Price is right, but maybe I should be patient...

I occaisionally borrow a friend "big-tex" 16' tandem axle car hauler. I try to return it each time with an improvement. I've replaced soft deck boards, broken lights....This time I bought new rear seals and took all 4 wheels off cleaned, inspected and repacked all 4 wheels....What is the right torque for the lug nuts? They seemd to come off fairly easily. Each wheel has a drum brake and the studs appear to be pressed in from the back....

Too bad I wasn't hauling any cruisers this time .....Iw as just hauling wood and brush.....

This was registered last time in 1989 in Switzerland so back then it was in very good shape (we don't let junk on the road like most places).

Paid SFr. 200, or $200 dollars based only on the Photos. Was up for 20 minutes on the Swiss auction site before I snatched it. Going to check it out tomorrow and pay and pick up the papers and do a closer inspection and get some photos.

Looks like the tailgate has been cut for drop-down, and the lights aren't stock - but from the looks of the photos, I'd say SCORE!

I like the look of my m101 in the brighter green ( not OD ) and before I start cutting into it for my tailgate, I'd like to source the correct green. Anyone know the code?

Thanks,

It's nice when you have a trailer to be running the same tires and RIMs as the tow vehicle so you...

It's nice when you have a trailer to be running the same tires and RIMs as the tow vehicle so you only have to carry one spare tire.

I recently bought an AT Horizon, but it had Jeep Hubs and 33" Tires. I wanted to be able to use my 35" Tires on Toyota Rims.

I went to a local trailer shop and bought a 10" Dexter Toyota Hub with the bearings and seals.

You can re-use the existing bearings, but need to replace the inner seal. The new bearings were fairly in-expensive ( Compare to cruiser bearings) so I bought new. This also allows you to set up the new hubs and have them ready for a quick swap.

My trailer has the 3500lb Torsion bar Axel set up

The first thing of course is to remove the tire and the axle dust cap

Next, bend back the tang on the lock washer and then loosen the retaining nut
