So after damaging a sidewall @ Harlan - finally got around to swapping it out at 4WP (don't really like that place, but can't complain about a $200+ brand new tire for $40).
Only issue is that the replacement didn't have white lettering (according to them BFG obsoleted white walls on my size AT) I found this a bit hard to believe, but didn't really argue, cause I needed the tire and didn't want to deal with it.

Here's the dilemma...I don't really want to go flip all my current tires inside out ($15ish per tire on some quick phone calls) And would prefer road force balancing (even more expensive) which I already have on the other tires.

I'm leaning toward painting the tire to match the others .

I haven't read good reviews about the Tire Paint pens - the run or turn brown etc.

This guy in Iceland seems to have some good stuff (resto guys use him...but kinda pricy with shipping)
http://www.mbzponton.org/valueadded/other/tirepaint.htm

There is also this stuff...but don't know much about it Ranger Tire Paint - Welcome

Lastly, the white tires lettering has a slightly different shape (no raised border) as the black ones do. So, not sure it would look right even if I did paint it.
Any advice out there? Is it even worth bothering?

The thread about the 1977 fj40 for sale got me wondering about what the range in price is expected on fj40's? I'm looking at a 1976 with average rust for being 33 years outside. Original motor (I assume) with smog removed. Everything else looks standard, except rear lites are now boat trailer lites. Trying to post picks of the rusty spots. Motor does run, but did not drive it. Any thoughts. OH! I'm new to this site but old to fj40's. The one I have is street pretty,(wife's). The one I want, is to play on the rocks with. I posted on this site cause it is this area (Charlotte NC).
Thanks in advance.

I will be making a day trip out to Uwharrie on the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday). Anyone is welcome to come along (this is not an ONSC trip). We will probably meet at the Outpost at 8:30 and head to the trails by 9:00. I plan to be back in the Triangle for dinner, so probably head to the Outpost by 3:30 for the return home.

I'm not sure what trails we'll be running yet, because it depends on the group. I would like to target trails like Slab Pile, Saw Mill, and Rocky Mount.

Post up if you are interested in coming.

So now that I have a tow rig the next logical step will be to pick up a trailer. I want to get something that will tow either the 40 or the 80 weight and width wise.

Obviously I will be looking for a tandem axle with electric brakes...but...

A couple questions;

Do I need a 7k GVWR or 10k GVWR?

Do I need a 16 or 18 foot length or longer?

How wide should I be looking for?

I took a quick stroll through the trailer dealer here in Burlington today. They had a ton of options and I left not really knowing what I really needed vs. what was available on the lot.

I'd like to find a used trailer as I'm not in a hurry. I want to buy once vs. getting something and wanting an upgrade later.
