It is true I need another hood. Heres the short story- The suspension shop here in Chandler, Az- did a great job with my suspension but failed to close the hood before the test drive. The hood hit the top of the windshield and creased it up pretty good and also bent the hinges.:bang: Anyone out there have these parts please hit me up with a PM or call my cell @ 480-452-8679.
Sooner the better, I'm POTM for December, so I have to get it fixed up before the photo shoot.

A few months back, I came across this rolling chasis of a '79 Iron Pig. I've always loved the way...

A few months back, I came across this rolling chasis of a '79 Iron Pig. I've always loved the way they've looked, and having something that I could actually put the family in, sounded appealing. I knew it would be a long way time before I did anything with it, I was still taking apart the 60 that I bought from a fellow club member over a year ago. The 60 would have been a challenge to get it where I would have been comfortable, and even though it was a runner, I lost interest in it quickly.

And of course, life changes again, and suddenly the pig wouldn't have enough room since the family was growing by one. I figured I'd finish parting out the 60 and then do the same to the 55. Hell, I barely have over a grand invested in both vehicles, I knew I could get that back. Then a friend of mine expressed interest in the 55, and having a parts 60 just feet away with almost everything we need in it, made it awful hard to turn down the idea.

So yesterday in the span of a few hours, we got the 2f fired up and then pulled. The adventure had begun.

I'm sure that both Joe and I will be on here to pick the brains of those of you who know. As of now, our plans are to use the the engine, tranny, and tcase from the '83 and get it into the '79. I'll ask more specific questions as they come up, but feel free to throw out any advice you may have. We are unsure of whether or not to use the front and rear from the 60 or keep the 55's. That and we don't seem to have engine mounts on the bell housing from the 60. Those are our biggest questions for now.
And no build up thread is complete without pics, so here's what the 60 started out as before I started taking it apart. Enjoy.

I've got an issue with my brake pedal binding at the booster.

Basically, the hole for the booster on the pedal looks low. It is low enough that the rod going into the booster binds. And it binds so that the pedal will not fully return to "neutral" state.

First, does anyone have a picture of a stock FJ55 brake pedal? I'm specifically interested in a picture of where the hole is for the booster rod.

Second, is the FJ40 pedal different than FJ55?

Third, would a booster be not symmetric? Ie, does the rod come out off center?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Alright, so I was driving the pig the other day and it was tunning great. The next morning i went to start it up and there was a spark but no gas. I checked the fuel lines and no gas is getting from the tank to the pump. I filled it up completely and tried it again. Still nothing. I bought a new pump, which I didn't think would be the problem, and that didn't do it either. The only thing I could think of was a clog in the line or the cam that drives the pump is not working. You all know so much here, and this problem is stumping me. Thanks for the help in advance,

Hello all.. Names Jason, been dreamin about one day owning a Cruiser (Toyota nut since I realised the Samurai I build wasn't cuttin it).. I work part time for Cruiser Outfitters here in UT, and a friend (on the board can't remember his screen name-B Passey) offered me a deal I couldn't refuse. I picked up both of his pigs for a song and a dance, and i'm still dancing. Ok, maybe not but i'm stoked nonetheless.

You might remember "Clementine" from earlier threads from Brian as he found, and doctor'd her up a bit over the last year or so.. She's still running great! I fell in love with Clementine earlier this year when I rode with Kurt on the first annual 'Relic Run'; at which the Passey clan loaded up with their 2 kids, dog, and super relic camping equipment for a 300+ mile circumnavigation of the Great Salt Lake. Clementine was the coolest rig on the trip, and everyone knew it. I snapped b&w photos on my 40y/o 35mm camera that were hanging on my wall even before I bought her!

We love the new addition to the family!
Then there's the other pig... (Some of you probably know more about this one than I do; Passey bought from someone in CO IIRC). This one is currently in pieces missing a motor.

I have pretty much decided to have my pig painted. Currently it is completely white. I was set to just have it painted white again, but the guy who is painting it for me said there would be no extra charge for a 2 tone paint job.

I have narrowed down the colours to; all white, brown/white (not sure of the exact paint colour) and red/white. Most 55's that came out in Aus were brown/white. I was thinking that I would keep this pig standard looking. I already have a preference, but thought I would throw it out there...........

Hello fron sunny South Africa.

I was very fortunate to get hold of an almost complete FJ55, 1980 Model, here in South Africa. According to our records we counted 7 runners, including mine, which will be restored to it's original glory with 2F engine. It had a Diesel ADE, which I did not buy with the vehicle, because I just love that sound of the 2F and I also believe that such a seldom vehicle must be brought back to it's original status. Only difference will be a 5 Speed box (now fitted) instead of the 4 Speed box, but I can live with that! :D

According to hearsay, the vehicle was white (maybe red/white ??) with red  interior. Have not decided on a colour yet, but I think a red interior is a no go. Prefer black rather!

My vehicle is exactly as per this quote

Quote:

The FJ56V had a body type that was only produced for sale in Japan, but the vehicles for export took on the 2F-type engine instead of the F-type, and also took on the name FJ55V. There are many differences in the outside appearance of the FJ56V and the FJ55V, with the FJ56V having a larger bulge in the engine hood, as well as the same combination lamp parts as used in the 40-series, but with the triangular windows abolished.

from hereTOYOTA LAND CRUISER Data Library,

but my Vin Plate reads FJ55R instead of FJ55V.

Does someone have additional Info regarding the R ?? :hhmm:
I will also post a picture of the VIN Plate as soon as I have removed it.

Herewith a few pictures from the day when I collected Miss Piggy!
As you can see, the previous owner started with a respray job, but then lost interest.
