Which grease do I use and is there a specific tool that can get grease in there better than others?

Posted in the buying/selling section but got nothing so I figured I'd give this area a shot...please don't grill me I am just trying to find as much info as I can fairly quickly... I have just found a 2000 LX470 for sale w/118k miles for 12k. It looks like a pretty good deal and has seemed to have the necessary maintenance completed but I have a few questions before going to check it out:

1. Since it is a 2000 I have heard about transmission failures and bad exhaust manifolds...this one has had both replaced by the lexus dealer under extended warranty, should I be good to go? The tranny has been maintained since new.

2. We have a 98 LC right now but I am new to the whole AHC system. I have read about bad actuators and the need to flush the fluid in the system but everything has confused me. What is essential to look for when I inspect it?

3. There is a spot in the pictures on the rear tailgate of an area that either looks like fading clear coat or wax residue...what do you guys think it is?

4. Anything else you think I should know?

thanks a ton guys!

I have a '99 and can't afford NAV at this point so I tore out the aftermarket deck and want to install the OE, what choices do I have.

I looked for a thread with no luck, you would think we could use a cross reference guide to factory decks.

I would love to have the newest version.

Anyone one have wisdom and knowledge of OE audio?

PS got one for sale?

I am trying to find the loud noise coming from engine compartment. I am figuring a bad idler pulley or tensioner pulley (I barely know what or where those are). Reading up on tensioner pulley in FAQ they refer to left handed thread. I know that is reversed from standard. Am I trying to loosen (turn clockwise) the pulley? That is what I am assuming but want to make sure I am doing it right. I am famous for stripping stuff so want to make sure.

Anybody got pics for this stuff. Thanks.

Hello... Long time reader here... Ok, purchased an uncut shell for my '99 LC from eBay; had the local dealer cut it for free. (City Toyota in Daly City, CA). Everything looks good, cut was good; can't tell the difference in the cut. So, replaced the transponder and tried starting the car. Alas... key will not work. Not the transponder part because the security light went out upon inserting the key. Key will not turn mechanically. What did I miss? Is the cutting of the key a hit & miss thing? Are there tricks out there for this new key to work. Thank you in advance.

I've had two original coils go out over the last 12 months. I replaced them both with Denso Coils pt# 90919-02230 that I purchased at AutoZone packaged Duralast boxes. The coils looked exactly like the factory ones being replaced, and even had the Toyota name molded on them. However, both of the replacement coils have failed prematurely. One did not even last three months and the other lasted less than twelve months. After much grief, the manager at Autozone finally gave me a non Denzo replacement for the one that lasted less than three months, but would do nothing for the one that lasted less than twelve. I ended up buying two Denso coils from the Toyota dealer and put these in as my trust in coils from Autozone has been dashed. I e-mailed Denso's technical department about this issue several weeks back, but have yet to get a response. Has anyone else had similar issues with Denso coils failing prematurely.

I recently put an HID kit into the highbeams of my 100s cruiser (its a 1999 105s 1HZ). I was driving home from work last night and turned my highbeams on and they turned on fine then flashed and died. As soon as that happened the ABS and Airbag light on my dash turned on and my radio went crazy. I turned the lights back off and the radio went fine but for the rest of the drive home the ABS and Airbags light kept coming on and off.

I got home and turned the car off opened the bonnet and the battery was hissing and was hot as all hell. (Considering its an excide orbital sealed battery im assuming the hissing is not good.)

I have turned the car on this morning and the lights all work fine and there are no warning signals on my dash.

I checked all the car fuses as well. None seem to have blown.

Can anyone give me some advice? or an idea as to whats going wrong?

Cheers,
Ryan
