I don't think that Platinum was rude at all. For a corporate letter, it is downright personable.
They probably have to write some patent jargon as a matter of legal course.
If they have a worldwide patent, and substantial investment in development and manufacturing; then I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm sure some plant in China already has 12 yr old girls hard at work pounding out copies anyway.
I think the OP made a cool reproduction. He is using it himself, no one can sue him for that. Who, in their right mind will pay $400 in shipping?!
Impressive DIY, I say!
But I also think one should respect a company with a patented idea, trying to make a go of it. Hopefully Slee starts selling them here.

For a corporate letter, it is fine. For a public post to a enthusiast forum... dumb move, IMHO. Sounds like it is already made in China.

Sure will, but I'm not too worried. They just felt a need to show their teeth.

Jerry,
You made an awesome dropslide. I can't figure that out even by looking at your pics!
It's cool you are giving out details to people too.
They can't do anything to you. I think they probably, in truth, are flattered and just can't say anything because of how legal stuff goes. A lot of companies are the same way, they get sued all the time.
