Shortened military cabinet

I purchased several of these cabinets from Government Liquidation for use in my garage. They were tool and storage cabinets from an M109 deuce and a half van truck used as a mobile work shop. I have seen these cabinets both removed and sold separately or left in the van truck when its sold for surplus. This truck has the cabinets removed.
2320 - Trucks & Truck Tractors, Wheeled at Government Liquidation

The first photo shows an original cabinet. Olive green, all aluminum. It is a little too tall and blocks the view out rear window, so I shortened it. Removed the top and bottom sections.
The second photo shows the modified cabinet. Spray painted black.
Third photo shows drawer open. All the drawers have dividers which can keep things from sliding around. Very useful and flexible as the slots are every inch.

Here is the cabinet in the back of my FJC. Can be removed and put in any of my truck. This pic also shows the lock bars which keep the drawers from sliding out.

X2 on the anchoring. You wouldn't want that thing coming forward in an accident. I am still looking for a decent cargo barrier for my rig - ay have to build one. I bought one a few years ago which is useless. Even the dog can get around it.

I haven't solved the anchoring question yet. The goal was to have the ability to put my stuff in any of my three trucks. I will probably end up with a plywood base which will anchor down the cabinet, the fridge, and battery box. Still looking at this forum for ideas.

The cabinet and drawers are aluminum, so the weight is not much. When I remove all the drawers, the cabinet is easily carried out of the vehicle for storage in my garage.

Aluminum cabinets! What a lucky score. I was thinking they were about 200lbs steel cabinets.

why not use ratchet straps to the anchor points already in the FJ?

I weighed the cabinet with no drawers on a bathroom scale and came up with 47 lbs. Assume 75 lbs with drawers and no equipment.

I moved the cabinet to my 4runner and it took about 15 minutes. The drawers are not on a sliding mechanism, so they easily are removeable without unloading them.

Wife is complaining about some rattles from the lock bars, but I think I can cover them with a bicycle intertube, it will tighten things just enough.
