inconspicuous aux lighting

These looked like they could be mounted in a variety of places or set back and protected by a cover in the front bumber

That looks like it would be fantastic if it puts out as much light as, let's say, a set of IPF's. Does that site list output lumens to be able to compare it to some other lighting options?

how would these be used? from what i've seen they are for emergency vehicles, not a constant on but strobed. I've seen some pretty bright wig-wag lights on unmarked police cars but they don't stay on constantly.

lights

There was nothing in the ad about stobing, I think any strobing light is probably controlled remotely from the lamp via a flasher relay

no other info on them though looked like a pretty good price and I liked the size of them and the fact they could be easily protected

Yeah, the bulbs may be as bright as the bulbs used in IPF and other incandecent vehicle lights, however the reflectors and lenses probably wouldnt be good enough to project the light as far

What would be useful is a spread pattern like Hella supply for their lights

hella

I had a couple hellas on the front of my Land Rover discovery while in the UK on wet dark country roads they were a life saver. Very reliable and more than enough light.

I'll probably put hellas on my FJ Compared to the KC hi-liters I had on my Rubicon the Hellas won hands down

I thought these lights were interesting though and I am finding that by looking at boat suppliers, service truck parts, Semi truck parts, and emergency vehicle sites you can find some pretty neat parts at a good price. I was surprised to see shackles at the local boat store for half the 4wd site price and they were heavy duty too

Can you post up some of the sites you're looking at? I'm trying to find some cheap lights for rock lights, back up lights, and possibly some fogs that can fit in my ARB & Kaymar bumpers.
Thanks!
Nick

For shackles, check out farm stores. $25 will usually get you one with an inch bar diameter. May be a bit big. Smaller ones are available.

I get a lot of my recovery gear from rigging suppliers, its all rated, and I actually trust the rateings to be more than a stamp in a factory in China.

I've seen (in person) cheap shackles fail, and its not pretty. I've also seen rated shackles fail, but only to the point of deforming rather than turning into shrapnel...

I think I will order some and see if I can get them to fit in my ARB. Size looks about right and I don't like the redundent ARB parking lights.
