CIA World Factbook

I didnt see it anywhere else. a great research tool for any country in the world.
I used it for college but now it serves a better purpose.

I was an intelligence officer for 10 yrs in the AF and we used this reference a lot. It is very helpful and accurate.

Sorry but how does the CIA world factbook relate to the "expeditions" thread? Just curious.

The CIA book says Tasmania is a major centre for poppy crops to make illegal drugs
I dont know how you could confuse Afghanistan with Tassie

Umm, ya, after the whole Iraq mess and countless other blunders the CIA should maybe think about shutting the presses down for a while. I would be reluctant to believe anything in that book - unless it is in the "Fiction" section.

Id be hard pressed to think that I or any one of us put together knows as much about the world as they do, and if nothing else it at least will give you a good idea as to what to expect. I always put trust in my SIG. Never leave home without it.

If you are going to a country you have never been - use Fodors, it is up to date and factual and very informative with respect to what a visitor might need to know.

Have you not been to tassie?

They have video camera's set up and elec fences for the production of the poppy down there, for legitimate purposes.

Spent 2 weeks there last years where we just did the wild uninhabited sections of the west coast of Tassie.

It is also a good reference along with the CDC to do searches of what diseases and other problems are endemic or epidemic for the region you may be traveling in so you can be prepared for what you may come across or be exposed to. Will give you alot of info about annual rainfall, seasons, elevation, tempature, facts about the economy and crime in that region.
