I would like to find employment as a Staff Geologist to further my knowledge of field and to complete the GIT and PG exams eventually. My ultimate goal would be to pursue a Professional Geologists license and to work in the field with a good environmental geology company.

I am a recent graduate of California State University Stanislaus, and am motivated to get out into the work force and put my degree to work.

Education

2006-2009 B. Sc. in Geology at California State University Stanislaus
Turlock Ca. Received Deans Award for Academic Excellence

2003-2006 A.A. in Liberal Studies at Columbia College, Columbia CA

Upper Division Courses Completed:

Geochemistry (emphasis on Ground Water Geochemistry), Hydrogeology, Sedimentology, Sedimentary Rocks, Geophysical Exploration (including applications used in ground water exploration), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Mineralogy, Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, Engineering Geology, Neotectonics, Stratigraphy and Paleontology, Structural Geology and Field Geology.

Relevant Professional Abilities:

Proficient in:
• Field Work (Rock, soil and panned concentrate and stream sediment Sampling)
• Drilling and construction of water wells (have worked as a driller’s assistant)
• Solution of 3-point problems
• Contouring (e.g., water table elevation maps)
• ArcGIS/ArcPad (two semesters of courses and field use)
• AutoCad
• Field setting of seismic refraction surveys
• Field setting of resistivity surveys/ IP Surveys
• Use of Petrographic microscope in rock/mineral identification
• Making of rock thin sections
Familiarity with:
• Interpretation of seismic refraction data (e.g., rip ability studies)
• Interpretation of resistivity data (emphasis in groundwater studies and exploration of massive metallic ores)
• Interpretation of induced polarization data
• Slope stability analysis (static, pseudo-static, and dynamic analysis)
Practice in laboratory setting on:
• Interpretation of groundwater chemistry trends (i.e. Piper and Stiff diagrams)
• Field identification or rocks and minerals
• Identification of rocks and minerals using the petrographic microscope
• Mineral separation (e.g., using the Franz magnetic separator)
• Measurement of soil mechanics properties (e.g., Atterberg limits)
Other Abilities
• Licensed welder.
• Proficient auto mechanic (and hydraulic mechanics)

Relevant employment history

2002-to 2007 Driller’s assistant with Tanko Well Drilling, Angel’s Camp, CA. As a summer worker I have been involved in all aspects of well drilling and construction. My particular niche is as a welder, but as opportunity has arisen I have driven trucks and skid steers, prepared the rotary and hollow-stem drilling rigs, and have overall assisted the driller (moving materials, changing drilling stems and tools, and operating the grouting pump).

2007 Summer internship with Geological Technics, an environmental geology company in Modesto, California. Duties included field assistant for drilling and groundwater sampling, measurement of groundwater levels, sample shipment to the analytical lab, and office compilation of groundwater and soil chemical data.Creating ground water gradient and contamination plume contour maps.

2008 Junior Geologist for Alaska Earth Science, working exclusively on Full Metal Mineral Gold and Copper Porphyry exploration projects. Worked one field season on several gold reconnaissance projects as well as porphyry copper reconnaissance projects in southwest and far eastern Alaska respectively. Duties included geologic mapping with emphasis on sampling of target areas. Used Arc Gis and Arc Pad extensively in determining areas of exploration and in analyzing new data as it was created. Gained knowledge about the mineralogy of Ore deposits, and the economic geology industry.
