Recruited by Charles Mckemie (Plant Service Director) to provide “in house” service to Nissan Canton facility from start up process and then into production. During startup providing Nissan with support in initial product trials, product loading and start up of body, paint, and trim shop applications. During this time no down time or quality issues were ever charged to Dow. After 4 years at Nissan Canton facility I was asked to undertake 10 automotive facilities including BMW, Ford, GM, any Tiers that were associated with these OEM’s.
• Successful Plant Launch of Dow Automotive Sealers, Adhesives, and Mastics in Body, Paint, Trim shops within the startup Nissan Canton Facility, Plant 1 (5 platforms)/ Plant 2 (1 Platform) by employing failure modes effects analysis and trial/launch protocols prior to line startup, then managing $14 million in sales
• Captured $7 million in Beta Brace sales at Nissan Canton facility resolving “oil canning” issue on current platforms such as Titan, Infinity QX56, Armada, Altima
• Successfully managed 10 automotive facilities consisting of $24.5 million in sales
• Led innovative plant launch at GM Spring Hill utilizing Dow Acoustic Foam to reduce NVH on GMT561 platform making it industry leading NVH & Body Leak testing
• Applied cost savings methods within various OEM’s. As a result, there was no reduction of material cost on current saleable items at year-end.
--BMW---$564,000 per year sealer savings comparing specification data to actual application amounts on BMW X5 SUV utilizing crash durable adhesive
--GM-----$250,000 per year savings recycling residual unused paint shop sealer into process allowing customer to fully utilize what they are paying for & also reduce landfill waste
--Nissan----$4.00 per unit material savings on underbody coating with no associated decline in quality to 260K units produced per year
