Digital modes

went to a gettogether at a local club for a discussion of digital modes. Very interesting, if rather complicated.

A bit above my head without having done any reading on it, but seems like it should be relatively easy to implement with minor guidance. Seems like PSK31 is a good place to start. Free very sophisticated programs out there. Nothing more than a receiver, computer, soft, and a cable to up and running, seems like.

We went to the shack and were able to pick up several conversation in HF very easily, Spain, Cuba and others. Also did slow scan TV. Now that is really really slow....

Interesting

Digital modes are interesting.. It is easy to setup, youve listed everything you need to do it.. There are interfaces available to go between your rig and sound card, but I built my own.. PSK31 is a good place to start, but once youre up and running with that you can use any digital mode.. SSTV is good too, I spent many hours sending and receiving pictures from all around the world.. Cant wait till HF improves some more, I'll get back into it again then..
