I have the Jeniko bolt in model and I love it to death....very solid and thin design that I position either in the center or in front of the passenger depending on who is with me...
I know others who use the seat bolt mount and really like it since the base is triangluated and strong. much easier than building your own __________________ Assisting the handicapped with vehicle based backcountry access.

Look up R.A.M. or Jotto Desk.
They are the brands that the law enforcement uses in my county. __________________ Cruiser Dan at American Toyota Phone is 1-800-432-6668 ext. 8 (I am not cruiser Dan) My Tow Rig = http://forum.ih8mud.com/hardcore-cor...g-tow-rig.html |

I guess I will post up what I think when I get it installed, Maybe even a write up?!? __________________ Enjoy Brian Passey KE7TGH wasatchcruisers 71 FJ40 Stinky 94 FZJ80 Ryoku Ryu Cruiser ring's anyone Stuff I've done... I just place a pelican case in the passenger seat and strap my laptop down to it. It also provides some mass to mute the vibrations of the vehicle. This works for road driving. I don't think it would work for serious off roading.

Here are a few pic's I took yesterday, I have mounted it on the trans tunnel, I started with sheet metal screws but decided I needed to bolt it through with 1" diameter washers on the back side.
It has some vibrations or sort when you hit bumps, Normal or not I dont know. I would also like to add a tray stop of some sort at the bottom and use a strap on the upper side to hold the lap top, It came with Velcro to mount it to the tray ![]() __________________ Enjoy Brian Passey KE7TGH wasatchcruisers 71 FJ40 Stinky 94 FZJ80 Ryoku Ryu Cruiser ring's anyone Stuff I've done... I will be giving it a true test during the Overnighter for CM in a week or so.
I cut 5" off the back end of the tray mount, That way the passenger could rotate it over. Here are a few leftovers... ![]() First is the cut off piece, Second is a tray stabilizer, However that is suppose to work and last is the Velcro strip ![]() I guess for the $50.00 its worth it, I knew I would be adjusting things to work how I wanted. I will let you know how it works out. __________________ Enjoy Brian Passey KE7TGH wasatchcruisers 71 FJ40 Stinky 94 FZJ80 Ryoku Ryu Cruiser ring's anyone Stuff I've done... My 40 work in progress |

Yup, Not arguing that, All the parts are nice powder coated aluminum or steel.
I have seen first hand what the RAM and JOTTO mounts are like, I just cant afford to spend that kind of $$$, I like to tinker and make things how I want them rather than purchase, I just didnt know where to start first off. Its coming together, I will let you know how I feel about it in a week or so. Thanks for the reply ![]() Thought I would add that my lap top is a small older style, I dont need the big heavy duty styles...at least for now. __________________ Enjoy Brian Passey KE7TGH wasatchcruisers 71 FJ40 Stinky 94 FZJ80 Ryoku Ryu Cruiser ring's anyone Stuff I've done... You may end up needing to put diagonal braces from the pole to the floor to help stiffen it. They shouldn't need to be all that long. Perhaps 6" to 9" up the pole to the same amount out from the base. I've been watching this thread because I'm also looking at installing a laptop holder.

Little update on how I have it coming together.
I moved my HAM radio so It would be easier to see as well as my laptop ![]() I have Velcroed a power supply for the laptop as well as a "port bar" so I could use my GPS on it, My GPS only has a serial port...![]() Finally I wired in a 3 hole power supply so I can power the GPS and Laptop. ![]() Here is the Fuse block I mounted on the passenger seat, Note the ground screw ![]() ![]() Im sure It will be quite a work out with all the weight on it, Not to mention one of the trails this comming week is pretty rocky. Have fun! ![]() __________________ Enjoy Brian Passey KE7TGH wasatchcruisers 71 FJ40 Stinky 94 FZJ80 Ryoku Ryu Cruiser ring's anyone Stuff I've done... My 40 work in progress |

Nice work.
Definately gives me some ideas of what direction I might take with my set up. Just gotta figure out how to make all the wires disappear. IH8WIRES. Don't know that I would want to mount my HAMM on my mount either. How much total weight do you now think you have that thing supporting? __________________ "If it wasn't a Landcruiser and hadn't been built the way it was you do realize you would be DEAD." My laptop is ~ 4LBS and the HAM is under 3LBS, Plus all the wiring, I figure a little under 10LBS. Good luck on yours ![]() __________________ Enjoy Brian Passey KE7TGH wasatchcruisers 71 FJ40 Stinky 94 FZJ80 Ryoku Ryu Cruiser ring's anyone Stuff I've done... My 40 work in progress |

laptop mount for the 40
It is good to see the options out there for you guys with lots of cab space. Vitesse_6 I like the fit and adjustments that you have done. My challenge is to find a mount and a placement that allows me to travel with it while at the same time still have a front seat passenger. My son swears that he saw a vid of a guy who had a sub-notebook, under 2lbs and 10 inches, pop out of his glove box on a sliding tray. Given the size of the 40's box that seems a non starter but I haven't given up on that completely.
Anyone know of a system that could tuck into a 40? As to placement if it can't pop out of the glove box like a hot girl from a bachelor party cake then I was thinking of something with a swing arm that could mount onto an arm of the roll cage. Obviously given the fact that the cage will be mounted to the frame either the arm or the mount will have to include some thing to dampen shock from movement. Any ideas or is all this just crazy talk. Thanks.![]() __________________ Just looking for a straight answer in a twisted world ![]() Build thread: http://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series...storation.html Member Mudders in Latin America |

I don't know about putting one in a glove box, but there are monitors you can get that will pop out of a DIN radio slot. Also you can get cases and power supplies for mini mother boards that will fit in DIN radio slots. Just need a keyboard and mouse.

I just went down and took another look at the glove box. While it is narrow it is also deep I can easily see a small sub notebook |
