Magellan Triton 2000??
I just read where Magellan and Primordial for enhanced off-road use and mapping....it pretty much reads terrain and helps determine the best route to destination without trying to make you cross rivers, ravines, etc like in past....
The Magellan Triton has the new technology...and looking at 2000. Article on Triton and new technology Magellan Triton 2000 comments or experience with new technology would be appreciated... __________________ I have a high art, I hurt with cruelty those who would damage me. - Archilochus, 650 B.C. ------ 08 FJ Cruiser aka "Brick House", Nitto TG 295x70x17, BudBuilt Rock Sliders 84 FJ60, Blue, BFG, 2.5inch; lift, Warn hubs, etc Lowcountry AMSOIL Products |

Hey Brock,
Not to be a bad guy, but from past experience Magellan has not had very good reliability, as well, they have not been very supportive of legacy products they have produced. They seem to have the Bill Gates/Microsoft attitude - throw it out there fast as we can, we will fix it later attitude. I use Lowrance products, but I know a lot of other guys on mud use Garmin as well and have had very good luck with that too. Just something to think about. __________________ 2004 UZJ100 "El Rinoceronte" - Gotta pay to play...

I would suspect that this 'feature' is more for hiking in areas without trails and not for off-road driving.
At least I hope that is the intent. __________________ 1994 FZJ80, OME850/864 w/ CSC 1.5" spacers, 285/75 r16 BFG AT/KO, 131K "SUBDUCTION leads to OROGENY" "Strip Mining Prevents Forest Fires!" "Stop Continental Drift!" "Tuff Schist" "Reunite Gondwanaland" |

I would not buy a Magellan product again...
I'm happy with my Garmin, a couple quirks and all.... __________________ '97: 86K, 3xlock, Custom HD roo bar for sale, 285 MT/Rs on steelies, Hanna sliders, 851+1.5"/863/N73/N74E/SD24, ARB bull with M12, Kaymar with duals, Kaymar rack, Slee TC skid, 2m/440, more stuff, loose nut behind the wheel!) I had a look at the Magellan Triton 2000 online. Looks like a nice hand held GPS, but I would wonder about reliability. If I had the chance to test one out I might be easier on it. It LOOKS good, but looks don't go before function. I'd be worried about 1) the real waterproofness and 2) the software.
Too many toys...... too little cash !! ![]() PS- when I was in the military we had 4 out of 6 on average in the Magellan GPS units FAIL due to both of these issues. Waterproofness, and software. The units were supposed to be waterproof mil spec.... ok whatever ![]() __________________ 2004 UZJ100 "El Rinoceronte" - Gotta pay to play...
