Yaesu 7800 install in 100
I removed the garage door opener mount and installed my remote face 7800 up there instead. It is pretty good looking. The mic is going to come out next to the Cigarette an Power suppy. The main unit is mounted under the passenger side seat.
I will say the 100 series headliner and A pillar are awesome. It is so simple to remove the sunvisors and grab handles and gain access to everything. 2 thumbs up to Toyota for ditching the cloth headliner! ![]() __________________ Eric V. Eric-That looks great!
My prediction is that by the time you are done, you'll like the 100 just fine. __________________ Andrew 1971 FJ-40 Rubicon tested 1976 FJ40 RIP 1984 FJ-60 H55f, 4.11, OME, Daily Driver 1997 FZJ-80 Factory sub-tank, and other tricks |

What you are looking at is the remote head. It actually has really good visibility from the driver's and passenger's seat. I took the photo looking up from the center console so it looks a little goofy. This radio also has mic controls. I think I'm set on this one.
The CB has been a headache though. __________________ Eric V. that is so awesome. I think I may be copying your idea there when I get a HAM. One quick question, can you still put the "cover" back on. I think it would be nice to have it concealed when it isn't in use.

You could mount it to the inside of the cover if you took off the metal bar. At first I thought about doing that. Then I decided that I didn't like how it looked when it was flipped down. It annoyed me as it was right up against the mirror. Depending upon your use the flip down may not bother you. I used Velcro to attach it. The face units are very light so it shouldn't be an issue and I can pull it out easily and leave the cords if I want to use it in a different rig.

OK thinking about this using the flip down deal some more. You could mount it to the metal plate if you flipped the plate upside down. What you don't see is there is a cord coming out of the back of the remote face as well as one from the side. So you'd have to drill a hole in the flip down deal if you mounted it directly to the flip down deal. That wouldn't look very clean.

It is under the passenger side seat. There is a little cubby hole that the radio fits in perfectly. I'm not sure if I will need an external speaker or not. I wired an aux fuse box in my console. There are these little divots in the 100 series console and the 6 fuse panel fit perfectly in there. I'll use the other fuses to give full time power to my Acc. 12 volt plugs and to add some switches. The CB is the next challenge. I'm not sure what to do.

Eric,
Do you have a photo of how you mounted the unit under the passenger seat? Thanks! Amando __________________ I4C4LO - KI6PQL somewhere in CA |
