Anyone know any good websites for downloading...

MGRS or UTM/NGS numbers for fishing wrecks/reefs? I've started using them because they tend to be way more accurate, but I haven't found a decent website with them listed. Thanks....

Steve,

That's all metric crap. Do you have charts that are delineated in these formats? How do you know where you are via a receiver? GPS equates to L/L. LORAN equates to LOP and/or L/L. Only local charts I have ever seen have L/L or LOP's. Some of the Bahama charts now have soundings in Meters. I hate that metric stuff.

A good depth finder always makes finding structure easier. BTW, slip me a couple of those Key's Honey Hole #'s when you get a chance.

Let me know what you might find out as far as the site you are looking for.

Your GPS comes with the ability to reformat to the NGS, I really think it's gonna be the new wave with civilians, we deal with USCG alot and they use it, accurate to the centimeter. I've found that even when I input seconds, it's still hit or miss on locating wrecks, the fishfinders aren't perfect either plus I never enter drift info, but the Grid system nails it. I might be able to get some charts but I thought maybe noaa or someone would have translated the numbers.

I've got a few holes in the Keys but I just found a guy whose lived there since the 50's in Marathon and he's making a list for me, I'll let you know when I get them.

Cool. I don't bottom fish much, only when it's too rough to get offshore.

I'll check my 8 year old Raytheon plotter/GPS to see if I can change the format. I have a real dinosaurs for electronics on this boat.

It's under set-up, prolly location format, the NGS is old skool but it works well. We're going to it for after hurricanes when all landmarks are gone. I can give you the numbers and there's no deviation. Simple and quick, everyones on the same page.
