Which GPS Unit

Best Buy Circuit City and Radio Hack have jack squat in the way of hand held GPS Units. Sports Authority is the only one that carries them here in Hell.

I'm kind of undecided between these two (price is a factor and I'm not a fan of buying stuff online, never have been) and looking to be able to load in trail coordinates for offroading and mountain biking.

The two I'm looking are the:

Garmin GPS 72
Magellan Explorist 210 Handheld GPS Unit

Both have similar reviews and I'm wondering if you guys have any recommendation on them.

I wouldn't give a dollar for a Magellan.... I take that back, I'd buy it for a dollar and sell it for profit to someone who actually wanted it. Give me a Lowrance or Garmin any day.

Another push against Magellan. They tend to not support product lines for very long and have had compatibility issues with some mapping programs. Stick with Garmin.

Recommend an eTrex Legend which you can usually pick up for about $150, a little more than a 72 but much better suited for your two applications IMO. I've had one for about 6 years and it has gone from dirt bike to road bike to mountain bike and everything in between. You can get one with more fancy gizmos, but the Legend is a great middle ground unit in a nice size.
