Thanks!

Removing the seat is quite easy. Whole process first time thru start to finish might be a total of 15 minutes. There are four bolts holding down the seat - two front and two rear. All bolts require the use of a 14mm socket with a 3" extension. The front two bolts are removed with the seat completely back. The rear two bolts are accessed with the seat completely forward. The rear two bolts are covered by plastic trim pieces that are easily removed. With the four bolts out and the seat completely back, the front of the seat is tilted up, giving you access to the power seat electrical harness plug in the center, which you unplug. Then the seat can be lifted up, swung and removed from the car thru the drivers door. Installation is the reverse process. Make sure the bolts are tightned well.

Kind words - your install writeup allows others to understand the componets and the process. Thanks for the thread - it was very helpful!

So I am just learning. In addition to being dual band, it allows dual receive on the same band. It is APRS ready (I just worked my way through the setup with the 540c GPS today). It can act as an APRS digipeater by itself. It has a large number of memory channels, has some powerful scan capabilities, and weather alert. And it can be connected to the internet as a node. Think it is all the radio I may ever need. I am very happy with it.

And plenty of clearance under there for the radio box or very tight?

I suggest you get the dimensions of the unit you are planning on installing, and if possible, make a mock-up of the unit's dimensions in a cardboard box.

With my setup, I moved the alarm as far to the driver's side as I could, so I could install my unit in the center of the underseat area - otherwise it would not fit as it was being hit by the seat track nearest the passenger side. In the center of the underseat area, it clears without contact.

My unit's dimensions are 5.6" wide, 2.5" high (with the 0.5" aluminum channel tracks and the unit's bracket), and 6.35" deep.
