computer in your vehicle; surf the web from in your ride???

Anyone done it in a 60 or 40 series? I wouldn't be surprised on a 100...

I wanna see set ups of such installs, especially if dash-mounted or really slick.

I haven't but I've been wanting to get one of these( http://www.panasonic.com/business/to...-computers.asp ) and set something up. Would like to get vzw or t-mobile mobile internet on it if I did. Hopefully someone on here has done this so I will have an example

There was a guy at the Petaluma Swap Meet that had everything in his 40. I think he goes by RadioMan or something like that.

The guys in the Pacific Mountain Cruisers know him.

There are lots of guys with these in PCM. At the FJ45 run at Deer Creek I saw a few. There is a kind of a stalk with a platform most people seem to be useing so the computer sits in the air over the console. I I know Mudrak has one in his 45, I'm going to see in this week I'll ask him who makes the mount.

Peter

LOL!

From the looks of Gary's rig I doubt he ordered one from RAM or Jotto Desk. I'll bet he built it.

I run a Toughbook 29 with a Jotto desk mount and Panasonic vehicle port replicator in an Excursion. Can't see any reason similar setup wouldn't work in a 40 or 60.

No affiliation at all, but at the SEMA Show I talked to a guy from Azentek. They're currently selling their computer as a 2-DIN, for 3Kish (which I found quite cheap for such a comprehensive product) but they're putting together a 1-DIN solution with a folding screen, which might come handy in the next few months. Keep us posted if you walk that path.

You could do the same thing with a mac mini and a fold out or permanent screen for under $1500.

I'm not familiar with mac minis, but I doubt they'd have as many features as a full fledged carputer.

I have installed these http://www.cartft.com/catalog/il/512 in few cars. I have installed in one 80 but not in a 40 or 60. To bad I donīt have pics from the 80.

I have a pic from a 2007 Nissan Patrol. The computer sits below the radio, there is a 15" touch screen in front of the passenger and the keyboard is on the passenger sun visor.

This Nissan Patrol is modified on 44" tires for a Icelandic Search and Rescue team.

I'd love to work at Nasa. I want to work on the assembly/repair line of the shuttle and other ships.
