Ham radio: amp for 2m/440 h.t.?

Any info on using an amp to boost handheld output to 50 or more watts? Since my mobile is kaput, I'm thinking about an amp for my ht's so I can just plug and play in different cars.

Anyone use one?

I'm using the Mirage BD35; Great gadget. I use it in my apartment mostly; since the rig in my 80 is more than sufficient.

Thanks for the link, that looks good. Have you had it long? I assume it is 12v, but it does not indicate the power input.

No, it does not indicate output. U can use a bird wattmeter in line to check same. I've had mine for at least 6 years.
