Master list of JDM importers to Canada
There has been so much talk of importers, good and bad, that I thought I'd start a list of them.
For now lets just come up with the list and leave the critique of them till later. In alphabetical order... DISCLAIMER NOTE: By saying below if they are registered, does not mean the others are not, only that the ones with registered notes came forward to say they are registered. Soliciting services from a curber is at your own risk.(BB) NAME CITY PROVINCE URL 4 WHEEL AUTO EDMONTON AB www.4wheelauto.com ABBOTSFORD JAPAN AUTO ABBOTSFORD BC http://www.abbotsfordjapanauto.com/ ADVENTURE IMPORTS RENFREW ON http://www.adventureimports.net/ REGISTERED DEALER BONNYBROOK AUTO SALES CALGARY AB http://showrooms.canadatrader.com/197/71 CANYON CREEK TOYOTA CALGARY AB http://www.careze.com ENS TOYOTA SASKATOON SK http://showrooms.canadatrader.com/65/17 GARAGE AUTO SALES WINKLER MB http://www.garageautosales.com/ HEARTLAND TOYOTA WILLIAMS LAKE BC http://showrooms.canadatrader.com/2331/2492 HJ61.COM N VANCOUVER BC http://www.hj61.com IMPORT CONCERN EDMONTON,CALGARY AB http://www.importconcern.ca/ JAPAN CRUISER http://www.japancruiser.com/ JAPANESE INPORTS ON http://www.japaneseimports.ca/ JAPANOID VANCOUVER BC http://www.japanoid.com/ JDM VANCOUVER BC http://www.jdmimports.ca/ JDM CARS TORONTO ON http://www.jdmcars.ca/ JDM CONNECTION SPRUCE GROVE AB http://www.jdmconnection.ca/index.html JDM DEPOT EDMONTON AB http://www.jdmdepot.ca/ JDM MACHINES VANCOUVER BC http://www.jdmachines.com/ JDM WHOLESALE DELTA BC http://www.jdm-wholesale.ca JDM-IMPORTS TORONTO ON http://www.jdm-imports.com/index.html JNS-IMPORTS CALGARY AB http://www.jns-imports.com/index.html J-SPEC IMPORTS REGINA SK http://www.j-specimports.ca/ LUXURY IMPORTS CALGARY AB http://www.luxuryimports.ca REGISTERED DEALER MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE RICHMOND BC http://www.maxoverdrive.ca/ MILLWOODS IMPORTS EDMONTON AB http://showrooms.canadatrader.com/4271/4730 MONKEYS INC TORONTO ON http://www.japaneseusedcar.ca MUSTANG CONNECTION ARMSTRONG BC http://www.mustang.bc.ca/ registered BC dealer NELSON TOYOTA NELSON BC http://www.nelsontoyota.com OUTBACK IMPORTS WHITEHORSE YT http://www.outbackimports.caregistered Yukon dealer PENTICTON TOYOTA PENTICTON BC http://showrooms.canadatrader.com/1234/1228 PREMIUM AUTO DARTSMOUTH NS http://showrooms.canadatrader.com/4045/4484 RAMS AUTO SALES SURREY BC http://showrooms.canadatrader.com/3878/4303 RIDGERUNNER IMPORTS NELSON BC http://ridgerunner.ca/index.html RIGHT HAND DRIVE IMPORTS VANCOUVER BC http://www.righthanddriveimports.com/ RISING SUN IMPORTS SURREY BC http://www.risingsunimports.ca SCI MOTORS VANCOUVER BC http://www.scimotors.com/ TERRA2TERRA IMPORTS BC http://www.terra2imports.ca/ TYEE IMPORTS CAMPBELL RIVER BC http://www.tyeeimports.com/ UNIQUE AUTO IMPORTS SACKVILLE NS http://www.uniqueautoimports.com/ VI CUSTOM CAR IMORTS PARKSVILLE BC http://www.vicustomcarimports.com/ WESTCOAST IMPORTS http://www.westcoastimports.biz/ EXPORTERS PROVIDE CARS http://www.providecars.com/ http://www.kktrading-aurora.com/ http://www.gocarcars.com/ Ok time for the comments... Staying out of the curber/good/bad/legit debate...That's a lot of free enterprise going on in a small market...
Something I hope all levels of Government recognize. If they believe their own propaganda that free enterprise is the engine that makes the financial world go round, I would "think" they would address issues when brought to their attention, and allow it to flourish. gb |

I have had excellent luck with Michael at Rising Sun imports.
I got my truck here and been happy with it, and Michael's help. Also as we all know, Wayne at Luxury Imports works very hard too, and from what I can tell, does a top notch job. I have also heard good things about Marko at Outback imports. However lately the quality of trucks on the website is going down. I see more and more underside rust in the photos, as well as heavily accessorized trucks. These are the big 3 importers as I can tell. As always, this is all just my opinion and experiences. Actual millage may vary, etc.... blah, blah, blah ![]() Cheers Nick __________________ 1988 BJ74 / Lots of goodies - Sold 1990 HDJ81 / Fully outfitted loaded beautiful truck - Rolled 1985 BJ60 / Beautiful Stock truck - Stolen |

Yup, I'm still developing the list and have amended the original list. Nobody knows of any other importers?

Wow that's 34 so far and it doesn't include the ones from Port Alberni, Smithers, or Cold Lake that I've heard about.
This list doesn't include the curbers who haven't even bothered to fake a company name but are selling week by week as private owners in the Buy and Sell, Autotrader etc. __________________ Rocky Mountain Land Cruiser Association TLCA # 5513 '87BJ74, '86BJ70, '78FJ45, '53M100, '90M101cdn I support our Troopies |

http://heartland.toyota.ca/dwp/exper...home/index.jsp has had a couple Japanese trucks as well.
I created a website to put information about my truck on... but I'm a 'curber' not a company

Just looking at the list, and wondering if the ones licenced as "Wholesalers" sell to the general public. If they do and you have a problem are you protected by the Province issuing the license (such as AVMVIV)

Brownbear has agreed to clean this thread up as required and will be ruthless in axing posts that are inflammatory, libelous, or overly mean spirited. Finally, there is a component to this discussion that is missing, thus far, and that is "What are the criteria for choosing a legitimate importer?" I think that deserves a thread of its own because, a shiny as a lot of these WebPages look, a bunch of them are private guys selling untested rigs and the buyer has little recourse should a rig turn out to be bad. Not all importers are created equal. __________________ Rocky Mountain Land Cruiser Association TLCA # 5513 '87BJ74, '86BJ70, '78FJ45, '53M100, '90M101cdn I support our Troopies |

There was a 4WD Corolla that was parked at the local Toyota dealer ready to be picked up by its new owner. I looked at it extensively and would not hesitate to do business nor hold back in reccommending Outback Imports, if the Corolla was representitive of their product, they offer an excellent service.

This is not a thread on who is legal and who is not.. But those who are registered and fully legal, let us know we can put a registered dealer note next to your name in the list. This list is to help people not get taken advantage of, or find what they are looking for. By doing so we can find out who had bad purchasing experinces or good ones. __________________ -84 BJ60, Finally on the FN road! -91 FJ80, wife's ride Iron Butt award winner of the Cruise Moab 08 ! |

I saw a 1990 HDJ81 at a place called Bonnybrook Auto Sales in Calgery. The salesman said that he and his partner were bringing in a lot of JDM vehicles of all makes. They also had Nissan Silva on the lot. The 80 was priced at 21900 and came with a 1 year 12000 km warranty and extended warrantys were available. He said they made them legal for Canada but I don't know what else they did in the way of PM. He advertises in the Auto Trader.

I guess I could start with my experiences. I have bought a couple of incomplete rigs from Wayne of Luxury Imports that Crusher's Rule had scavenged for parts. I got killer deals on both and both times they were unexpectedly delivered to my door at no charge. Both were sold as-is and there was no expectation of after sales service.
I helped my girlfiend shop for her BJ73 a couple of years ago and tried Lost Guide and Luxury Imports but neither had anything in our price range. Eric of HJ61.com had a BJ74 and I talked with him about it and even sent a buddy to look it over for us. I was unhappy with the representaion of the rig as well as the method of selling. He refused to show or sell it until he had all the interested buyers see it at a mall parking lot. We ended up buying from a private party who has brought in a few JDMs. The rig developed cooling problems on the way home and ended up requiring a new rad, water pump and t-stat. The seller did nothing to help us with the cost of these items and this is what I expected, buying from a private party or curber. We were aware that we would have little recourse if something went wrong. __________________ Rocky Mountain Land Cruiser Association TLCA # 5513 '87BJ74, '86BJ70, '78FJ45, '53M100, '90M101cdn I support our Troopies |

I've purchased two JDM Cruisers, both from one importer, who no longer imports.
I've commented in general terms about what to expect when buying a JDM from an importer. Post #54 at http://forum.ih8mud.com/diesel-tech-24-volts-systems/28056-understanding-import-cruiser-prices-2.html Peter Straub |

Big end bearings. Big end of the connecting rods. Have failures of the bearings due to faulty metal and or lubrication. Tho better have someone like Greg_b describe it. I am only a parrot. ![]() People mention this as many legit importers change out the bearings with new upon arrival. Curbers do not know what these are..Or many other shops. So it needs to be part of the budget when you compare prices from diffrent sources. If someone is cheaper....you ask why?? __________________ -84 BJ60, Finally on the FN road! -91 FJ80, wife's ride Iron Butt award winner of the Cruise Moab 08 ! |
