16x6 toyota rims

I am thinking of buying those factory grey rims from toyota and wanted to know if anyone is running those rims with 255/85r16 tires. The reason i ask is the manufacturer suggests a rim 6.5-8 inches but I think I read somewhere that someone was running these anyways. If so what is you impressions and do you think they will be okay on a 60 series.

I'm running that setup on my BJ74. I have to air down the front tires to 32 psi and the rears to 30 psi to try and get as even a contact patch as possible. I'm getting some weird cupping in my tires...don't know if that's related to the rims being too narrow or not. If given a choice, I would definitely go with 7" rims with these tires. HTH.

Thats what I thought might happen. Guess I should have gotten in on greg_b bulk rim buy. That is over isn't it?

Does anyone know where you can get 16x6 rims with the right backspacing locally.

I will PM greg_b and see what he has to say.

Your local Toyota delaer should have them. The JJ backspacing is 3.75" IIRC. If you so a search on this section, you will be able to find the Toyota part# for it...otherwise, I'm sure Greg's got it memorized by now.

Sorry for the typo it was actually like you had suggested 16x7 rims. I dont like hearing the cupping thing. Hopefully the tires you have were not top dollar.

Ya, sorry the group order is over. The order is filled, and I am waiting for word it is ready for pickup.

I was planning in the next few days to put some 4" BS Uniques on Petra's HJ61 just to see what they would look like, until the 3.5" custom BS ones arrive.
