80 BJ44 with a 2B questions
I have found a JDM 44 with a 2B in it. I was wondering what the pros and cons are of this motor. It appears it was only built between 79 and 82?Horsepower is a bit more than 3B, torque a bit less and it has a smaller bore and higher CR. Anyone that's run one have any stories? Parts availability?
Would I be able to turbo it like the 3B? Would it be difficult to do a mini truck PS swap since it is RHD? Thanks all, Pete |

i had a 2B briefly and it pulled real nice and i have "heard" they get excellent fuel milage.
parts are going to as hard to get as for the "B", "3B" family. reliablilty will be the same as the 3B, over heat it and you will crack the head, run it low on oil and it will crater, look after it and it will not let you down... cheers __________________ pulling this info out of my ass so take it with a pound of salt "People are poor because they don't spend money wisely, tough sh!t !!! It sounds pretty good.So I should be able to turbo it just like a 3B. Do you know whether the PS swap is doable ,since its a RHD?? Pete |

You're gonna have to source a factory PS box from a 40 series cruiser that has RHD. If you go with a box from a 60 series--again it will need to be from RHD donor. I hear so much about mini-truck PS boxes and conversions, hell, maybe you could source a mini-truck box from a RHD donor and build your own bolt-on custom bracket (mirror imaged) like the ones you see advertised.
I have thought about this as well, as I want PS for my RHD 45. I am gonna do an engine swap eventually and the donor drivetrain will have factory AC and PS pump all ready to go; therefore, the only impediment will be sourcing a RHD PS box. I am thinking 60 series will be the best for me. __________________ Sparkplugs are Irrelevant. 1976 HJ-45; 1984 BJ-42; 1988 BJ-73; & 1993 KZJ-70 Quote:
