BJ40 dead

Does anyone know if a 80 BJ40 runs out of oil is it toast?? I have heard some people talk about something shuts off if the oil pressure dies off.. is it true?

as long as the fuel control is hooked up and not bypassed then the low oil shut down will work.
if this has been bypassed then the engine can be thrashed from low oil... don't ask me how i know...

Ok thanks.. I am looking at it to buy for parts but the owner said the engine is dead.. So who knows.. its in pretty rough shape (really rough) but should get a rad,fenders and little stuff off it.. I'll let you guys know if I get it..

i have bought many trucks with really good rads, some were just a year or 2 old...
