Diesel trouble in LA

A couple of Kiwis ( Chris and Karl) have been living up in Northern BC for the winter and have become good friends with Charla. They came to River Shiver with their borrowed BJ42 and beacme friends with some of us as well. They have now headed south in the old BJ42 and have lost a fuel control (EDIC) relay somewhere near Santa Barbara. I coached them through removing the rod from the EDIC to get going again but they could really use a new relay. Anybody have one in Cali? We can send one down to replace it. They figured to be in LA sometime today.

This time they are going to have to wrap it in plastic before they mount it. All that rain in Norcal ran right through the perforated windshield frame and ran down onto the relay, killing it.

I am in San Diego, and I am parting out an 85' BJ70 if there are any of the parts from that, that might help I would be glad to lend a hand (it is 12v system). I do have an 84' BJ42 so in a pinch I can loan some parts of that if but I would want to get them back, its not a daily driver at all for my but is part of my museum. I have a shop that has most everthing you need to work on a cruiser so I offer that up as well. LA is a ways a way from me but I also have trailer for towing if that is what is needed. Let me know if I can be of assistance 858-243-9680 anytime day or night.

If they are not planning to make it down near SD another option In the LA area is SOR - Spector Off-road, Marv Spector the owner usually has so hard to find parts and is usually pretty simpathetic to Cruiserheads.

G'day,

Michael

Thanks for the offer guys. It is a 24 Volt truck and the connectors are different from an HJ60. I guess the part is specific to the BJ42. Micheal, they may take you up on yours and I'm sure they'd be happy to drive down to pick it up. They're not on a schedule and were trying to decide wether to come back to BC via New York or not so I don't think San Diego is really out of the way for them.

I never even thought about SOR. I'll suggest that first. They really should see Marv's collection anyway.

Plus SOR is much closer to Santa Barbara than LA proper, so they really dont have too far to go. Tell them to go north on Topanga Canyon Blvd(rte. 27)off the 101 for a few miles, R on Nordhoff, right on the first street going South and a L on Osbourne. Park on the street or if there is room in the lot.

I am in town until next Tuesday morning when I head to Moab, and I will be working in the shop every night this week and all of the weekend. whatever I can do. They should make sure to call SOR first see if they can talk to Marv and explain the part they are looking for, Marv has a way of coming up with parts the other guys see they do not have in stock. Here is the Number 818-882-1238, they are located at 21600 Nordhoff St. Chatsworth CA 91311

Good luck, I will be standing by just in case.
