I would think if you are not running coolent than you really would want to run a tubo timer. All of these combinations work, however I have to wonder what the real efficiency is on these. Seems like the answer is efficient enough huh?

This is a mitsubishi turbo however unlike the 2.2L mitsubishi gas turbos no coolant is required to be run through this turbo. A major bonus. With a diesel there is no need to run the coolant through the turbo so that is one less step to do the whole thing took about a day.

I've been pondering this non-cooled turbo thing lately. Yes a turbo timer would be the best, but since trhe 3B has an oil cooler, won't the oil be the same temp as the coolant anyway?

Just a thought,
Craig.

It is very important to let your oil cool down the bearings in the turbo no matter what. I dont have a problem letting my vehicle idle for a few seconds after I have been working it hard. No cummins has a watercooled turbo and many people are running these turbos at 35 psi. I have seen coolant in a turbo'd engine which has obviously been boiled by the turbo and it is then less efficent in your engine. Water cooled turbos are only really used on gas engines where extreme temperatures are present at the turbo. The turbo timers sound like a good idea. You need to keep in mind that with or with out a water cooled turbo you must leave the vehicle idle for a few seconds before shut down.

Diesel Dude, have you got a picture of the turbo from the Dodge D-50? Would love to see it.

Hard to tell in the pic, is it a flipped manifold set up? How plentiful are these turbos in wreaking yards or availible elsewhere. I don't even know if I have heard of Diesel D-50. Seen the gas ones running around. There couldn't have been too many off them.

The manifold is flipped upside down, I am not sure about the avaiablity I got this one from one of my buddies who owns a auotwreaker as a gift. I checked into rebuilding it when I got it and I do know that the rebuild kit was not hard to find.

The performance is a huge improvment over stock, well worth the hundred dollars it cost me too install.. I dont have any bases for comparision since I have never really been around any other turbo'd 3B's.

Wouldn't this turbo have been used on a 6.3L engine...how does the 3.4L 3B even spool it up?

No this Turbo is out of the D-50(like and s10 or older dakota) not the fullsized truck. I drove this truck when it still ran and i noticed it seemed to have a bit of lag, since it was a smaller motor than the 3B I took a chance and thought it might work. The Turbo spools quite quickly and does not seem to restrict in the higher rpms.

You (or anyone else) are looking for the CT26 from an MR2 or Celica. Whichever car had the 3GTSE engine.

Craig.
Just came back from the junk yard... and the CT26 I found from MR2 have a 4 bolts pattern and the 3B manifold have 3 bolts ??

3GTSE = what model/year ?

Some one can post some pics of there CT26 turbo... on or not on the manifold.

And if I flip the manifold from my 3B engine do ya think I have enought place under my BJ70 hood ? Some one already do that ?

Craig.

How much for the 13B-T manifold from G&S ?

And Radd : how much for the Denco manifold ?

Call me crazy but I just bought one of these turbos.
2.3L 143CID L4 SOHC diesel.

For the price I'll have into the whole setup and my badly, badly needing one here at altitude I couldn't pass it up.

Hopefully it's in good shape. I get the manifold to a foot out from the exhaust.

Rebuild kit #?

Yep.. I'll let you know when I get and and I'll snap some good photos for all. I'll hopefully be able to get a feel compared to Brett's AXT out in Moab or anyone else with a 3B turbo there. I'm wondering what the fan ratios are. I don't really care about low end spool as I need highway spool I'll probably have double the turbo cost into a gauge
