I am in the process of trying to install my new EGT,boost, and oil pressure guages.I have a couple of questions about my EGT gauge and my oil pressure. The oil pressure guage is mechanical so I am looking for a convenient place to take my measurement. After looking in the FSM it says that to check the oil pressure you use a mechanical gauge and use an existing location on the block beside the sender(round device threaded into the block with wire coming out?). On my 12-ht I cannot see a threaded hole beside the sender, not even a plug to remove. Has anyone installed a mech oil pressure gauge on either a 12-ht or a 2h motor and can give me a location of where to tap into. Beside the sender is a flat spot that might be used for a oil pressure port but it looks as if it was never installed.
As for the egt guage it uses 12 volts to take the temp readings and was wondering if I use a 24 volt relay tied into my ignition and 12 volts from my converter to power the type k probe will this work and give me an accurate reading. I am going to use the 24 volt relay method as well for the lighting if I cannot find 24 volt bulbs for the gauges. All my gauges are autometer if that makes a difference. One last thing can I take my boost reading from the tubing that goes between the intake manifold and the boost actuator or do I have to tap into the manifold from the turbo to the intake. Thanks guys for all the help real new at the diesel stuff. |

You have to remove the sender and screw the test gauge in there

you can install a "T" and install both the mech and the elec.
tie into the converter for the 12V __________________ pulling this info out of my ass so take it with a pound of salt "People are poor because they don't spend money wisely, tough sh!t !!! Thanks for the info, I had thought that would be the way to go but wasnt sure and i definately will be putting in a tee so the factory gauge still works as well.

Isspro makes 24v gauges if you can exchange yours. It might make the install simpler and cleaner. My boost is off a "T" on the wastegate actuator.
