slightly off topic

so i have had a reoccuring problem at very cold tempuratures. i have a turbo diesel 2.7 that knocks very badly when the outside tempurature is below -15C. if the temp is above that then there is no knock at all.
when it is knocking there is:
no loss in power.
it is rpm related.
the engine will not blow hot air (although it will cook you out of the cab above -15C)

my guess is probably a fuel knock. any other guesses or suggestions?

cheers

Maybe the problem is that it is not a Toyota engine?

How about frozen coolant?

we changed out the coolant last week...
could be the Mits design i guess.
what is really cool is the little bugger fired up at -25C with out being plugged in and the Yotas were harder starting...
cheers

Crushers, add an anti-gel additive and see if he problem goes away...it sure sounds like fuel knock. I wonder if the local gas stations got some diesel brewed for the coast instead of the Alberta deep freeze?
