Oil

So I have very very limited funds right now and I need to do an oil change on my 2lte and am looking for some opinions. Are there any issues with mixing a synthetic 5w40 with a conventional 15w40. I understand this might not be ideal, but I am thinking its better than running dirty old oil. Let me know what everyone's thoughts are. Thanks.

Howdy! You can already buy 10w40synthetic blend which is half and half. Kind of a waste of money, so just run straight dino, whatever weight you need. John

ANY oil (of the correct weight and grade of course) changed frequently is more than sufficient... So, I would say go ahead and use what ever you have

Apart from the marketing, not all oils are equal. I'd stick with a proven diesel oil than say the Canadian Tire special. With the 2lte engine, I'd always err on the side of overkill in terms of lubrincant and cooling care.

Use up your Crappy Tire money and get youself some Rotella-T. Still is the best bang for the buck in dino oil.

Maybe you should sell your kidney if you cant afford to buy decent oil to your cruiser....

nah, but seriously... mixing different brands/weights of oil is never a good idea imo... Besides, that engine takes so little oil it cant be that expensive even if you went and bought rally formula for it...

Thanks guys, I really don't want to mix and match and I do like to take care of my fragile little 2lte, but luckily I can pretty much get away without driving her right now. Selling a kidney is seriously an option
