alot of people run just resonators or nothing at all. I drove my HJ home (15 miles) after installing a turbo with nothing hooked up other than manifold.....not all that loud at all

Unless it is turboed I would not run it without a muffler way to load unless you live in the toolies you will draw alot attention especially from the police

loudiness

well, i make several road test in my neighborhood. everything was perfect until i decided to push a little harder on the pedal! That was pretty loud! Not like a gasoline engine but still noisy enough for the neighborhood

And for turboed diesel... I think its crazy to do that! Even if the sound is descent, its too dangerous that your going to cook something under your hood! Quite sure after 5 min or so your fender, wires, and anything on the travel of exhaust area would be completly burn!

Turbo is to Diesel as:
1) Key is to Lock
2) The railroads are to Monopoly
3) Milk is to Cookies

Unless you're going absolutely crazy with the boost, you can very safely turbo a 3B. As long as you are still routing the exhaust out of the truck, you won't cook anything. Build a heat shield if anything is that close to the exhaust (because you would cook it).

Also, the turbo whine is like music. Seriously.

Side Muffler

Here's a pic of my muffler on my non-turboed 3B. Simple, quiet and inexpensive. It's a basic $40 round muffler with some pipe sections clamped together. The picture doesn't show it well, but most of the muffler sits above the frame rail tucked in there nicely.

to answer the question - without modifications - no. the 3B exhaust is made with a 2 hole flange and the 2F has a 3 hole flange.

get a welder any anything is possible. i personally like just the resonator and an exit behind the passenger rear wheel. leaves room for an extra tank and puts exhaust out behind the last window that can open (often a test for the legality of an exhaust system, fwih).

i have to run my bj to a muffler shop... i know it will fit something pretty descent. I was just thinking for diy and not running the bj to a shop.

for turbo, well someone write on this thread that it run is hj with a turbo and drive it 15 miles without anything just the manifold. I was just surprise that you could to that and found that pretty dangerous.

and yes turbo are for diesel like cheese are for cheese burger!
