Schwitzer Turbo 3B BJ42

G'day

After obtaining all the bits and pieces I wanted to turbo my BJ42 I have got around to installing it all; even though I ain't finished :-)

First thing I did was to remove my second battery and the air box. Next I removed the engine pipe and luckily no hassles with the bolts and nuts from the exhaust manifold.

I got a disk machined so I could mount the turbo manifold on the engine without hooking the turbo up. I then drove it down to my exhaust guy to put together a pipe for me (2 1/2" with muffler). Pics with the manifold with exhaust installed

Next task was installing some gauges, I got VDO gauges from eGauges.com - VDO, Auto Meter, Defi, Isspro, Cyberdyne and Classic Instruments Gauges (very happy with the speed and price) Pyro, Boost and Trans temp. I mounted these on the crash pad

The next job was putting the turbo in. Pics of the block off disk removed from the manifold and the plumbing points used. I plumbed the oil feed through the gallary off the back of the block and the return via the alternator return.

I then disconnected the edic motor and locked the IP in the off position to turn the engine over without starting it to ensure there was oil to the turbo and it was flushing properly. Finally I hooked up the air box, cross over pipe and the drain hose and fired her up.

And finally some pre tinkering shots

My apologies for the lack of detail and missing shots (got a bit carried away and kept forgetting to take any at different stages)

Have you noticed any problems related to the turbo oil return going to the alternator oil return? Does that point route the turbo's oil back through the oil filter?
