Can i get it from you for a much bigger hug? ;-)
My garrett from is .48 on the turbine side (like yours) but .67 on the turbo side (exhaust) and yours is .53 I'm not sure what a smaller ratio would do on the exhaust, but my guest is it would work. Your are missing some parts, and the flange is 3 bolts, so you would need a adapter plate. The waste gate actuator..etc... Here are tons of picture of mine and the installation Turbo installation __________________ 1983 BJ42LV 3B turbo diesel, 5 speed, power steering 24V Viair 450C, ARB locker front/rear, OME Heavy 4.56 R&P, BF Mud 255/85 (34") Warn M12000 24Volt http://www.ericleblanc.com/gallery/m...p?g2_itemId=20 |

Turbomaster shows that model number being a GT1752 from a nissan RD28.
That's a 2.8 litre 6 cylinder diesel which revs to almost 5000rpm. Yes it'll be a good turbo for a 3B, it's on the smaller side so you'll get lots of low end boost and not quite as much top end power. Is there anything stamped into the flat section on the compressor cover? __________________ VOODOO Engineering: Doing it first time with one clay doll, not four times with two. |

Yes I think that will work for the 3B, based on what other's here have said about A/R numbers that is. You'll need to either make an adapter plate for the exhaust manifold (or a custom manifold if you can weld) and you'll have to clock it (turn the compressor side) so that the inlet tube will be easier to mate with the turbo.
Also make sure the oil return is pointed downward as close to vertical as possible. All things to think about when installing a turbo. The second thing you should buy for your install is a Pyrometer. A must if you want to make sure you don't overheat your combustion chamber and do serious damage to your engine (read re-build). Summit racing has a GREAT deal on a VDO pyrometer for $99 and it comes with the k-type thermocouple. Keep us posted and if you don't mind add more pictures of your progress. __________________ 83 BJ60, 347K km's, Mitsu TD04 Turbo, Custom 2.5" SS Exhaust, OME 2.5 lift, 4x7 Home built roof rack, 80 series rims 265 BFG AT ko's, frame swap coming soon... 04' VW Golf TDI, 172K km's |

Huh? smaller side of what? it's a .48/.53. Seems to me it would be on the larger end of being a perfect match but still quite usable.

Consider this, two turbos with the same A/R ratios, but one has wheels which are twice the size of the other. They will not spool at anywhere near the same point. To give you an idea of equivalence, a T3 with 60mm wheels and an exhaust A/R of 0.42 will spool up at a similar time to a T25 (53mm wheel) with a 0.49 exhaust A/R. __________________ VOODOO Engineering: Doing it first time with one clay doll, not four times with two. |

I'm clear on the wheels. I understand how they work.
what size is it? I must have missed it. The pics are big on my little laptop and I have to scroll to the side . Even if it's a 50 wheel I think that's better suited for a 3b than a 60 wheel.Even if it's a 50 it's more suited to a 3b for overall performance. I still don't see how this turbo is "on the smaller side"? It's on the larger side if we map it, no? __________________ 1964 FJ40 | 1966 M416 | 1976 FJ40 | 1985 BJ70 Volvo Power| 1997 FZJ80 | TDI commuter car Rising Sun; Former CLCC You should be able to delete your own thread. Your sig says you've got a TDI, which type? Your TDI probably has a similar size turbo. __________________ VOODOO Engineering: Doing it first time with one clay doll, not four times with two. |

Fair enough, I assumed by looking at it that it was a 50 wheel. If it's a 40, then smaller side applies.
