24v Wiring Warn M8000

I have an 86HJ60 Canada spec diesel. 24v system. Have new Warn M8000 winch. When attempted to wire negative lead to negative terminal sparks flew. Since positive lead from 1st battery(drv side) connects to negative terminal on 2nd battery (pass.side) does negative lead really connect there?

Called Warn they did not know!

Also have drv side headlight issue. Not working though bulb is still good. Replaced bulbs on each no change. All fuses look good. I get 12v at plug in but light will not work. Pass side still works. Could this be the headlight relay? How can I get 12v at plug but light not work?

Thanks for 24v newbie help.

I think you want to hook it up to the positive side of the passenger side battery and then the negative (ground) to the frame

as far as your headlights go you have a centre tap system that toyota put on the CDM HJ60 it has been know to cause problems. I would scrap it and do something like what the dude did. it has worked very well for me.

If you are going to be be running any 12V stuff I recommend doing some searchers and getting your self set up properly. try searching 24V to 12V converters and Solar converters lots of reading! oh and welcome to mud! (official welcome)
