Rear heater bypass

My rear heater starter leaking all over the place today. Was think of bypassing the whole unit with some elbows and new tube. Has anyone done this? Does anyone see any issues with this?

Thanks

Its been done lots of times. Its better than having wet floors. Do it as close to the engine as possible

Put an elbow on just below the seat temporarily. Gonna see if the heater core is fixable; if not i will bypass close to the engine.

Thanks

Is it worth trying to get that little heater core fixed? The dealership wants $500 bucks for one.

depends, do you need it to keep you warm? no? then bypass it and forget it...

simple question, do you have passengers in the rear seats?

If you're wanting to keep that heater usable, then your cheapest options will be to either take it to a local rad specialist and see what they say, or to get down to the scr@ppers and see if there's owt similar knocking about.

Possibly but if it is leaking because of corrosion, its probably bad allover on the inside
A good radiator shop might be able to make one,but those kind of shops with those skills are fast disappearing.
I had one made for my car many years ago at half the price.

You're in BC?

Go into the coastal cruiser section and ask for a used one. Steve the prez sells used parts. EBI is the company. I bet he has a bunch of them on the shelf.

Also princess auto sells heater cores for farm equipment that could be adapted to fit. Seen them the other day.
