will BJ60 or hj60 fan clutch fit BJ70?
I'd like to replace the fixed (solid) fan coupler with an o.e.m. fan clutch but can't seem to source one for a bj70. But I can source them for 60's, both bj and hj. Does anyone know if it will fit? I'm thinking they will but would like to confirm this. Part # would be a big help also.

all of the 4 bolts that the fan clutch use to mount to the pulley fit. The 60 fan clutch won't allow the 70 plastic fan to mount on it. I guess you can buy the 60 plastic fan too. One of the things I haven't done yet is to find out the diameter of the 60 fan to make sure it fits the 70 shroud.
I do know that the mid 80's pickup plastic fan is the same as the 70 series. part # crosses over. so you could run a mid 80's pickup fan clutch and it would bolt up. I dunno if it engages differently from the 70 fan since it's a different # but it can't be that far off. __________________ 1964 FJ40 | 1966 M416 | 1976 FJ40 | 1985 BJ70 Volvo Power| 1997 FZJ80 | TDI commuter car Rising Sun; Former CLCC You should be able to delete your own thread. Thanks for the replies.
I talked to Dan at 4wheelauto.com in Edmonton and he's sending out a water pump and a fan clutch (viscous coupling). He was very patient, and thinks my fan will bolt up to the new fan clutch. My current fan mount is a viscous coupling modified to be solid by being drilled and through bolted so I don't think I can just add the fluid back to it. Thanks again. __________________ JonB ke6gfb 87 bj70, arb'ed, slidered, winched, 4x4llabs bumper. 97 40th fzj80 w/difflocks, cdl switch & pin 7 mod, Hanna sliders, 2.5" ome lift, 1" body lift, rear drawer system on 285/75-16's. 87 sas 4runner- air lockers, dual cases, beadlocked 35" mtr's, waggy & cheby springs, sliders, 8274 winch, etc... |
