Red face Valve cover cracked

My valve cover cracked while I was torquing it down. I set the wrench to 9ftlbs, but I didn't do a very good job of torquing a bit at a time in sequence, i guess. Whats the best way to torque the cover?

Also, anyone have a spare cover? My crack extends between the middle two bolts on the top of the cover, through the ribs in that area. I snugged it up as best I could without making it worse, but I suspect it needs replacing.

I'm not so worried about it leaking from the cracks (which I could use JB weld to stop if it does), but if I torque the center bolts to spec I can hear the crack widening... I don't know if I have sufficient pressure on the gasket now.

Hmmm

A Hah The catch 22,Maybe you could have welding shop magna flux or heli arc and beef up the inside of the cover/crack, even add a strip of aluminum inside? I forget which or what they use on alumunum?
