Getting ready for the resto teardown on the BJ42

Well I have been deployed for the last year and while there steadily ordering everything for my restore on my 1983 BJ42 LX RHD. I tried to order everything OEM Toyota for the most part and if no longer available then I ordered Japanese made. I am now at a standstill dumbfounded by where to begin and how to go about it. I will of course take many, many pics and draw a many of diagrams so it comes back together with hopefully few left oer parts??? new parts ordered: clutch kit, engine rebuild kit, ARB air lockers front and rear, 13BT turbo manifold, Garrett Turbo with adjustable wastegate, 5 split rims, trans and transfer rebuild kits, all new OEM weatherstripping for entire vehicle, bumperettes, HFS bumper, SS nut and bolt sets for vehicle, new lights all the way around, stickers, OEM deluxe 2.5" heavy suspension kit, OEM brake drums and rotors, Longfield Chromoly superset Birfs, SOR molded rubber flooring, SOR black rubber diamond plate mats, OEM shifter boots, poly body mounts, engine rubber/ poly mounts, new front floor pans and rear sill, amby door bottom steel replacement, OEM glass, OEM rearview mirror, Eshan 7 window softtop and bows, OEM door handles, all new latches and strikers, serengetti door panels, CCOT deluxe gutter, tierod ends, OEM WP fan and clutch, PS gearbox rebuild kit, caliper rebuild kit, OEM parking brake handle, dash pad, thermostat, OEM visors, OEM foglights, OEM interior lights, heavy duty dual batterie cables, OEM gussetts, OEM fuel sedimenter, OEm wheel cylinders and much much more. As you can see I will be taking alot off this vehicle and replacing with new so if anyone needs anything let me know. On top of this little project I have my CDN M101 trailer to build as well. OVERWHELMED!!! If anyone has any suggestions please feel free for I have just a few more parts to buy and then the teardown begins. I have the same thread in the 40 section with lots of pics of the parts?

Rob

I often wondered when i see these pics of these torn down cruisers for sandblasting, how they get back together, I will be finding out real soon or not? I about to go outside and start the pic taking as all together

Rob,
I've finished machining your turbo adapter and will be shipping your way. Lots of pic's and drawings, labels, zip lock baggies labeled w/magic marker, etc. A harbor frieght 20gallon parts washer(on sale-$60.00 or so) filled with solvent will aid a great deal in cleaning. A glass beading cabinet would also be awesome if you could swing it(of coarse it requires a compressor also?). A lot of empty boxes for storage, etc. Best of luck.

Thank you brother, looking forward to attaching it. zip lock bags, markers, pics, boxes, and timeeeeee. Thanks, I wish I had a place for bead blaster and cleaner.

Good luck with it Rob. I have still had my eye out for the double rear seat for you but haven't seen one come up.

I have been doing a build up on my 42 since last July with a few things still to do, didn't take it back to stock though, made a few changes

Found the rear seats about 8 months ago and had then shipped over from your neck of the woods, cost a small fortune but worth it to me. I appreciate all ur help. I actually have an extra single rear seat that I know Stardoster needs, so will contact him.

First of all, 1000 thanks for your service overseas.

Like others said, take loads of pics.

You never know what you may want to see.

I always bag all nuts and bolts in zip locks.

I then label each baggie with a sharpie.

Most of all, take your time and have fun!
