12H-T question...

Anyone know if this engine uses cylinder sleeves?

Is a 12H-T rebuild particularly expensive? I would imagine that if the cylinders don't require boring (if it has sleeves) then perhaps not as much.

Thanks!

12HT's aren't sleeved AFAIK but even if they were as the 3b is, there is still machining costs to factor in which can add up easily to 1000 or more. Add to that your parts cost and it will be a costly rebuild. On the positive side, you'll have a kickass engine that you can pass on to your kids.

An engine rebuilder I have used a few times said the cost is not much different for sleeved/non sleeved.
The 12HT AFAIK is not sleeved
The 12HT kit is not substantially more than a 2H last time I looked.
EDIT $1275AUD
IMO you need to machine the bores if your using a rebuild kit to get the crosshatching pattern back on the cyl.

The items that could push the cost up are a turbo rebuild or pump rebuild if they need doing.
The machining should include the manifold and flywheel for the best job.

It's not factory sleeved, but you can put a sleeve and back to the factory bore if it's needed .. actually if where my engine ( you can donate if you want ) I just go with the Rosco route .. no sleeve and bore it if where necesary with over pistons ..

There is a club member that got the kit from 4- Wheel Auto for his 12H-T (ATEB) did the rebuild but got the machining done somewhere? for the sleeve installation.

Are you saying the 12H-T is sleeved or are you saying the club member you mentioned decided to sleeve his motor?
