what is needed to do 3b into fj40?
Can the input shaft be swapped in a 74 4speed to work with the 3b bellhousing?
what is needed to have enough vacume to make the brakes work? I'm considering buying a bj60 that is rusted out for 1300 obo or a 3b by itself for 400. My trans is allready rebuilt so I'd like to keep it, how much of a pain in the but would it be to swap input shafts?

i believe the input shafts are different, someone should be here in a moment to tell you the years and whats involved with changing that. If you could find a 3B with the 5 speed i whink that would be much nicer.
Also where are you at and how do you plan to use your cruiser? __________________ 83BJ60,Merkur turbo+intercooled,SOA,aussie locker Custom bumpers,,4.88's, longs and poly rears.RDB's +4runner calipers, parabolics in front, 39.5 IROK's on DC-1's 92FJ80 stock with the damage multiplied. 350 tbi, ome3" (JUST WRITTEN OFF) |

Mostly as a DD. Some light to moderate Wheeling. Occasionally on the highway, although, here is Canada most of the speed limits are below 55 mph.
FJ 40 w/ 33-12.50 and 4.11 gears. |

your input shaft is different on the gas i t has less splines than the diesel, it will not work. on my conversion ii used a vacumm canister for my power brakes that works really well. on the back o f the alt it should have a vacum pump put one hose into the canister on the inlet and outlet goes to your brake booster.

bj60
The BJ60 is a four speed w 390,000 km.
If I could find a cheap five I'd use that but it would take 100 years to pay for one in savings when I usually only drive 8 miles per day at 30 mph. |

bj60 tranny
Hello I'm new hear,
Well i've done it and i'll take pic. for you if you'd like. I took a 76 fj40 and a 82 bj60 and swaped out the input shaft it easy and pie. but when you do that then i sugjust that you change the housing cause the bj60 tranny housing has a tranny mount on it and that tranny support is better for the torque. i did it about 7 years ago and if i remember thier is a plug or dowl that has to be removed or cut off so the belhousing will mount flush to the tranny. Hope this helps |
