2H air intake

How restrictive is the oem air filter assembly on a 2H? Is it worth replacing it with something less restrictive. Any risks in doing so?

TIA

If you drive in dusty areas dont use a K&N because they allow a larger MICRON size to go through the element. ie dust etc...

Not too dusty here. Given the low HP of the 2H, just wondering if a less restrictive intake would make a noticeable difference.

noticeable .. mmmmm I don't think it will be a great diference .. maybe along with a new less restrictive exhaust, but I with a pyro you can adjust a bit your fuel, if your injectors are fine ..

Hey Randy, I think that 2h set up is restrictive on that, I remember a plastic tornado looking sheild over the air filter element. I was going to try to Rig up a fresh air tube like the ones they put on those import tuner cars. They have them at pepe boys. Never got around to it . When you open up those diesel hot rodder mags thats what they have on them. just my .02

I dont think they are restrictive especally on a 2H. The 12 HT and 1HD T use the same filter and they probably use %20-%30 more air.
The stock filter has a big surface area and many of the so called "less restrictive "filters have a smaller surface area and therefore clog up quicker.

I also don't think it's restricted by the intake at all. A guy in on the norwegian TLC-forum had a theory of a huge restriction.. He rigged a big garage-compressor in the back of the car and laid some pipe from the tank to right before the intake on top of the engine.. Then he had an air-gun in the car.. The idea was to avoid vacuum in the intake, and give the engine the air it seemed to need up hills...(this was an experiment not a permanent thing)

Nothing happened at all. 2H gets all the air it needs..

Thanks for the feedback. Good news as it's one less thing to do to the truck. Thanks for saving me some time.
