pinhole fuel leak
I'm new to the diesel thing so this is probably a dumb question.
I have a pinhole leak on one of the fuel lines near the motor. What can I use to patch it up? JB Weld? Replace? duct tape?? __________________ John 1983 VJ47 Crew Cab "The Great Pumpkin" 1992 M-101 Tons of 40 parts for sale <---Link Finally I can get what I've always wanted....a used Toyota. |

Which line? Being the engine compartment, I would be inclined to replace it. A pin hole indicates corrosion and probably there's more where that came from. It takes a lot to combust raw diesel but ones it lights it'll burn until there's no more fuel.

You can use all three, but in this order: Duct tape, JB Weld and replace. Or you can skip the first 2 and hit up exmodlad for a replacement line. Rick |

Replace your line, if you plan on running Bio Diesel or Veggie I would replace the lines with VITON but if you plan on running B5-B20 you could get by with rubber but use a fuel conditioner keeps everything like your injector pump , injectors and fuel lines in top condition.

brazing a pinhole from abrasion rather than rust is a perfectly accepted way to make a repair.

Thanks for the responses.
It's a metal line that is leaking about 6 inches before the fuel enters the motor. It's an "L" motor that is in my Toyota Blizzard. Do I need to buy a replacement line or are there universal replacement parts? I'm sure I can bend the line to make it fit but I'm worried that the metal pieces on each end are irreplaceable. As I said I'm not much of a mechanic so I don't wanna screw up something that can't be fixed __________________ John 1983 VJ47 Crew Cab "The Great Pumpkin" 1992 M-101 Tons of 40 parts for sale <---Link Finally I can get what I've always wanted....a used Toyota. |
