Need Diaphragm help!!!

I have the new diaphragm but need to get the housing off, but looks as if I need 4 hands and they better be small to get to this? 2 of the bolts holding it in seem round? Is there an easy way to replace the diaphragm? How do I get the edic arm off to get to this housing a little easier? Im idling around 1600rpm now in which it used to be around 700rpm.

Rob

Lifting either end of the edic arm should readily "unclip" it at the balljoints there Rob. (Very simple.)

But the job is very "fiddly" and I can tackle a job like that only when I'm in the right mood. (I feel you must be in the mood where you are happy to "take as long as it takes" and "work by feel with your fingertips".)

If I'm in the wrong sort of mood I'm very likely to stuff it up - Like dropping a nut or washer inside. But having said that - I have dropped the nut inside once and retrieved it successfully using a "magnet retriever pencil". (And I understand some people remove/reinstall using a method where they don't risk dropping the nut/washer at all.)

So don't be put off. I'm probably making it sound more difficult than it really is.

A torch and a "telescopic inspection mirror" are helful tools.

You do need a lot of patience. Mind has four screws (so all the heads are round). I just use an ordinary screw driver blade to undo them.

PS. Have a read of this thread if you haven't already done so:

I did it, besides having to do it twice because I had it upside down, it would have only taken 15 mins. 1600rpm back down to around 800rpm, I love it!

Thanks
Rob

Good work.

(And of course you would have realised now that you didn't need to "purge air" because you didn't actually get into any of the diesel fuel circuit.)

sure didnt, I was getting scared when I went to start it, for i was already tired of reading my manual, and did not want to have to read more on how to purge the air, did that once when I 1st bought the vehicle because I did not know what the edic was and I pushed it manualy forward or back and then it would not start? learn as I go. Appreciate the help

Rob
