What size exhaust for turbo'ed 3B?

What size exhaust should I go with when I turbo my 3B? I have the 13BT manifold and just bought the Garrett GT turbo and need to know what size I should with on exhaust with no muffler? Also, is it OK if I shorten my exhaust to just before the rear tire?

Rob

2.5 is probably best. I've had lots of rigs with the exhaust dumping in front of the rear tire and I've never been happy with it there. Its noisy and the tire always ends up black and then anybody of walks past it ends up black. Diesel soot is surprisingly hard on wheel finishes too. I'll be upgrading my exhaust soon and will make every effort to weave it past all the crap that I've installed under there.

I have 2 1/2 no muffler following (except inside the frame rail) the stock exhaust path

Put atleast a 2.5 mandrel bent on it - if it isn't mandrel bent you will end up with a 2.25 inch or less. 2.5 mandrel bent would be best, run it out the back with minimal bends, dont stick it past your rear bumper, leave it just up and behind the rear bumper and angle the blast towards the ground. No muffler needed - or if you want it a bit quieter get an aeroturbine muffler with resonator.

You shouldnt need Stainless as you are in NC.

This is my 1HZ T with 3 inch mandrel bent and aeroturbine muffler:

2.5, 2 1/2, and two-and-a-half.

Craig.

thank u fellas, 2.5 mandrel bent it is, probably will go with the SS or aluminized at least, wondered about the exhaust dump and black soot on rear of vehicle and wheel , so I will not do so, but probably will dump just behind rear wheel pointed downwards.

Looking forward to it
Robert

full mandel bent is overkill IMHO. I have Mandrell off the turbo but that's it. If you have to do some crazy bends maybe but it's just a 40.
