Isuzu 4BD1T in Land Cruiser 80 1992

The engine with 700R4 and BJ60 transfert case is now fit in the truck. I have to lift the truck now to make clear the front drive shaft to the oil pan ant engine adaptor.
I think that 4 inch will be OK. All remaining look good. The BJ60 front well manual lock fit pecfectly on my truck.

Now, I would to sell all the originally parts that i remove from the truck: Engine parts, transmission, transfert case, starter, alternator, and all others drive train parts.

I have BJ 60 parts 12 and 24 volts, I take the the transfert and the front manual lock hub for my swap. All the others parts of the truck are available.

I will give some others news with pics when my swap will be done.

Also keenly waiting for photos.

What year is your engine and which turbo did you get?

Ditto on the pics,
I am surprised you have to lift it that much to clear the pan on the 700R4. It should be the same clearance as my 700R4 even though I am using a different engine. I just went with an OME stock height lift and some 1 " spacers. It is pretty close but it clears. I probably should have gone with the 2.5" lift and may end up putting them in anyway but I don't think you really need the 4" unless you just really need it. Also I just installed a tach on mine today, I can't remember what rpm the 4BD2T runs best at but with 285/75/16's I am turning 2130 rpm at 70 mph. That is a bit high for the 6.2 so I probably should have gone with 35" tires just don't want to go that big on a daily driver, I may have to just slow down.
Good luck, let us know how you are progressing.
Rusty

I think that someone said the 4BD1T was a "deep" engine, like a 4bt and you have to put on a lift to clear the oil pan. I guess I'll just have to stick with toyota when I do my swap. 1HZ w/ A440 I'm hoping.

Hopefully soon to come; ARB, OME 2.5 inch lift, etc.

ThePookieBear, let me know where you find a 1HZ and how much it is. I found one or two a year ago when I was looking but they were high. I have seen a few more on the market lately a little bit cheaper but still in the $6-8,000 range. I would love to drive one (and the Isuzu) just to compare to the 6.2. It would have to be considerably better to justify being 6 times the price but it might almost be worth it to have it all Toyota. When you get started let me know, Kansas isn't too far away.

Will do for sure. Actually, Spectre off road has 80's series half cuts w/ 1HZ and five speed. I was going to do that and then rebuild my A440 and get the diesel valve body and torque converter from Rodney. Then just sell off the five speed. They wanted 4500 dollars for the halfcut. But, as soon as I started showing serious interest they stopped answering my email, then their price nearly doubled. I was a bit put off to say the least. What town in texas are you in? I have spent lots of time down south in Zapata, and also in Big Spring around the hill country for sailplane/hanglider/paragliding events. Both areas are beautiful in their own way.

I am in Texarkana, border of Arkansas and Texas. When I was looking I found a couple places advertising half cuts but I don't think they actually had them and it seems like the price was around $10,000 so I lost interest really quickly. I have a friend with alot of Land Cruiser connections in South America but at the time I was looking he couldn't even find any.
Keep us posted

My engine is a 1986 and the turbo is a HHI rated 126HP and 250 to 300 lb torque. i have to lift to clear the oil pan of the engine and the engine adaptor ring. 2 inch lift is OK for the oil pan but for the ring I need 4 inch i will try to grind to give clearance. I going to work on the truck tomorow and I will take pictures. The 4BD1T is the same height that the original toyota engine but the oil pan is to much wide and the bellhousing is bigger. I have to flip the starter quarter of a turn to clear the frame with.

I had heard of some cutting out a portion of the oil pan and then welding in a patch to give more clearance. Although, I don't know if this is an option or even wise.

It's certainly an option with these engines, but if the bellhousing is the lowest point, it gets more difficult. Is shaving the adaptor ring an option?
Dieselcruiserhead has done this combo before, what sort of lift did he end up with?
