Changing Injector pumps?

I have a rebuilt injection pump for my B motor, how complicated would it be to swap pumps?

Timing, install etc. etc.

Thx Jim

swapping an injection pump is a tricky thing to do. the timing marks and gears need to be aligned, the timing set correctly and the likes. better yet have the swap done by an injection pump specialist. it will give you the least headaches in the end....

X2 have a diesel specialty shop do it. It CANNOT be correctly done by another mechanic.

Any thoughts on a good diesel shop in the lower mainland for a 3B?

Not VFI in Abbotsford. Go try New West Fuel Injection in Surrey. If they can't do the mechanical then they will recommend a place beside them. They are honest. Rebuilding them is their speciality not putting them on an dtuning them.

I am not sure if the 3B is harder than a 1HZ but I just did 4 of those (swapped twice) and it was pretty easy. I would think if you don't remove the gears for valve timing and just the part for the pump it shoudl be pretty easy.

Not much of an update but I didn't actually make it into Fred Holms. I did have a chat with the shop manager there Raj. He instantly recognized the 3B engine code and quoted me $600 to have the injection pump rebuilt and re-tuned.

I never made it in there though as my injection pump still works well, it just leaks like a seive and I have a freind who is a heavy duty diesel mechanic that works in another feild so I thought I'd give him a shot first and try to just patch up the seal.

You could try Howes diesel fuel treatment and see if that re-moisturizes your pump seals and stops the leak. Has worked for some after running the low sulfur diesel that drys out the seals, just a thought

x2 3 bolts on the flange and pull. It fits back on one way only

$600 is good. Most diesel mechanics will want to replace all the seals and gaskets to ensure there is no leaking and that will be $400 -$500 min.
I think Raj worked in oz for a while so he would know these pumps well.
