I pulled apart the epic stereo system that came with my HJ61 and came across a 24-12v converter. Theres seven wires on the unit. 4 goin in, and 3 going out. Ive attached a pic of the colour code but low and behold............... I cant read japanese

I can't read Japanese but think I have the same or similar one in my Safari. It can only supply a 2.2 amps continuous. If you are going to have any other 12 V in there beyond a stock stereo, you will need something like the Solar from G&S or a converter from EBI. I would want well over 15 amp continuous. I haven't done it yet. Just another thing on my list. Whatever I do it will feed 13.8 to another 12V battery which I will wire an aux fuse panel for all my 12 V electrics. This will allow me to take bigger draws from the battery then would be possible from a 20 or 30 amp reducer. Not sure where to put the other 12V battery. A gel battery could go in the cab in the rear quarter panel. I have also seen pics of weather proof (not rock proof) battery boxes mounted to a frame rail.

I can read it...

Incoming Power (24V) * orange lead ...main
* blue/red lead ... acc circuit
* green lead ... illumination
* black lead...earth

Output Power (12v.) * orange lead ... memory
* red lead ... main
* yellow lead ... illumination

It says below to connect the earth lead to the body. And list the electrical performance details just above that.

hope that helps!

As usual, I'm a little late, but you are better off with the 47's translation than my slaughtered version.

Amazing how digital images hold up over time. The Kodachromes of me from 1968 look all washed out
