Cryptic answer... but that's okay.

You will need an H55 from an H, 2H of xF engine to match your FJ60.

The "B" H55 uses a much longer fine splined input shaft that is not compatible and changing it out is a fair bit of work to do.

No, the input shaft for the B series engines are longer and have a finer spline.

The F series and H series engines use the same input shaft.

Your posts tell two different stories. Are putting a 3B in your truck or an H55?

3B with a F/H tranny won't work. You will need to switch out the bellhousing, input shaft, input shaft bearing retainer & throwout bearing retainer from a BJ tranny.

You're gona store the 5 speed that came with your 3B and try and make a 4 speed work? Why wouldn't you just put the 5 speed in with the 3B and be done with it. It's a way better combo.

the short answer is yes.

A 3b with a mated 5 speed can be swapped into an FJ60. It is not a direct bolt in swap.

The motor mounts need to be moved.
Provisions for the glow system need wired in.

I am sure I am forgetting some other obvious yet somewhat minor modifications that need done.

GL

Tim

See Mel Lowe's build thread. While he threw a 3B in a 62, it went with the mated H41(or H42). IF the H55F is mated to the 3B, you're golden, but it is a long, hard conversion to be sure. Read Mel's build carefully. Mine (search "evisceration tofudebeest") should help too.

Buy the donor rig, not just the powertrain, even if you have to drag, ship, or tow it home. You will need so many parts not connected to the powertrain that you are not thinking of, you'll end up spending 20X as much to get the parts separately than having them right there in a donor rig. TRUST ME!

X2, If you haven't read some of these threads, you will spend thousands buying and having parts fabricated. See my FJ/BJ mutation thread, without some fabrication and mechanical skills you will have 2 really cool yard ornaments.
Based on your replies to this thread you are gonna have 2 really cool yard ornaments. Lemme know when you wanna sell the ornaments! I will buy them for cheap!

Is the 3B a 24Volt system?
You can convert everything to 12Volt (alternator, glow etc), but there is more swapping (and shopping) to be done.
None of the F-engine stuff carries over except some 12Volt vacuum switches.
In other words: There will be lot's of electrical issues to deal with!...

BJ60s got 12V electrics.

The BJ60 will have things like driveshafts, shifter covers, electrical that you will want to have for your FJ.

With a Turbo it would be a great engine to have for both longevity and mileage.
