Aussie 7-pin Trailer Plug Adaptor?

Does anyone know if there's an adapter going to a flat 4 wire plug for this thing? It's 7 pins with 5 wires going to it. Should I replace it with something more common?

There are plenty of adapters available in this part of the world.

Here's a link:-----

Whitworths Marine: Trailer Adapter - 6Pin Car Round to 7Pin Tr Flat

But if I was you, I'd simply replace it with whatever socket is most commonly used where you live.

Those round ones aren't any more reliable than the flat ones. In fact, I think the opposite is true.

And the "7-pin flat variety" is the most common here in New Zealand with almost all hire trailers using it so this is what I have fitted to my BJ40.

They are real common in oz,both my cruisers have those 7 point plugs.
However I would find out what the most common plug is locally and have a new one fitted.
Adaptors are just another place to have something go wrong.

The 7 point plug should correspond with this.

1 – Yellow – Left hand Indicator Light

2 – Black – Reversing (backup) light

3 – White - Ground/earth

4 – Green - Right hand indicator light

5 – Blue - Service/trailer brakes

6 – Red - Stop (brake) light

7 – Brown - Tail, license, clearance light

We have 7 pin in North America. Go down to napa and see if it fits with the normal ones we have. And they have adapters to the flat style.

Thanks, Guys. Those ideas in mind, I think we'll swap it out so it's the same connector that's on the main tow vehicle.

Merry Christmas!

It looks like the pin configurations are different between the Aus 7 pin round and the NA 7 pin round:

The 7pin pictured isnt very common in Australia generally, but is used extensively in Western Australia (the state on the LHS). SA and NT tend to use the larger round plug (marketed in WA as a truck plug) while the eastern states have the flat plug, and also the larger round plug.

I hate trailer plugs, I often need to hire trailers whilst interstate for work and I've now wired ALL the different sockets to the back of my vehilcle

if it's just a basic trailer with no brakes I would just use a 4 pin flat one.

Rosco saves my bacon one more time. Found a similar 7 pin plug here in the states that would fit into the same screw holes in the bumper. Thought we could just swap wires and go, but nothing's that easy. So we're pulling up Rosco's wiring code and reworking things. We'd probably have stomped off mad if we didn't have that info. I've got a trailer full of junk and I'm itching for a trip to the dump.
