Fast isn't a word you would use to describe the experience. Torquey perhaps but never fast.
Fast as a snail....

i guess sufficient is a better description.. no problem to keep up with traffic... but if you want to overtake you have to plan ahead..
I have never driven a FJ ( i haven't even seen one) but i doubt they are much faster..

Marting: where are they getting the scandia RHDs? Are you guys getting them from Japan? Where do the rest of us look for them if we're interested? Ebay?

Also, how do you keep your diesels warm and running in the winter? I know you have a bunch, because I used to live in Stockholm when I was a kid. And I know how friggin' cold it gets. Do you put block heaters on them?

Tak so muket (sp?)

er.. a little missunderstanding here.. i asumed you would rather have a LHD version... so therefor it would be better to import from here than from the other side of the planet... (might be just the same if you are on the west coast,, but anyway)

So you lived in Stockholm.. hear it's nice. haven't been there myself.. Stockhom is pretty temperate compared to 90% of norway

Yeah most cars and trucks have block-heaters or heaters in the bottom radiator-hose... but it's not everyone who has a chance to "hook it up" every night...
all "our" HJ60's are 24volt with two batteries... we buy good strong batteries
We use low-viscosity oil in the winter (if we care about our car)
And i guess the oilcompanys make sure the diesel dont freeze (add carosin)

Toyotas start well in the cold too... a hj60 with good batteries have no problem starting in -25c or less

The ones sold up here also has winter stuff on them, like heater for the rear under the passenger seat.. and probably something related to the glow system.. They all have a w in the chassis-number

like this
jt1 W 0hj60xxxxxxxxx

I have an FJ60 and it accelerates a lot 'faster' than the HJ. I will be swapping in my 2H shortly though.

Someone asked him on his latest listing about the legality of this import. Brining up the 1984 but titled as a 1980. His reply: "It's a 1980."

So does anyone know what would happen if you buy it and try and register it? Should the VIN clear as an 80? How does it get confiscated?

If he had sold it privately through the classifieds without broadcasting the situation,it would be ok.

Govt departments get particularly nasty when people falsify paperwork to circumvent the system.

If found out they would probably impound it then crush it and send you the bill
