BJ74 Circulation heater

Hey, I just picked up a coolant circulation pump/heater for my 13BT. Its basically a radiator heater BUT it also has a circulation pump attached so it heats the whole coolant system, not just the fluid around the heater itself.

I’m trying to figure out the best place to splice it into the system, has anyone installed one of these before? The hose diameter is fairly small “appears” to be the same size as the lines that go to the heater cores…
Ideas? Does anyone think if using an oil pan heater as well would be a good idea if this truck may soon one day end up in Northern Canada?

A good block heater is all you need. I can start my BJ74 after sitting all night in -30 without plugging it in. Of course it starts much nicer when plugged in.

not sure on the heater.... but see if you can figure out the loop for the heater in the truck.

Basically you have two sizes in and out. Just tee those and run the lines to the heater. Then the heater inside can be anywhere with out stopping the flow on the circulation heater.

Once you have a block type heater I doubt you need and oil pan heater.

Oil pan heaters can cause problems IMOP if you don't drive enough to burn off the condensation. As they heat you get extra condensation in the oil pan area....

Well that theory works with coolant heater too.

You still need to hit full operating temp on your drive.
