half a million kms
After almost 9 years of owning my '87 hj60, I finally hit 500,000km. I pulled over to the side of the road and the family celebrated the event. I wasn't sure that we were ever going to get there. I'm not sure what she has left in her, but she is running as strong as ever. Here's to another half million.

I'm at 505,000 kms on my '82 BJ60. It still makes the trip from Central America to Canada and back!

600,000 known km on my old BJ60 cruiser, and althought it's retired (parked at Pierre's, who inherited it), it still runs perfectly fine.

Congratulations. Not bad.
This last spring our 72 FJ40 with the original F Engine, clocked in at 759,000 US miles on her before we did the 13BT transplant. She still had her original drive train. __________________ "Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value." -- Albert Einstein 66FJ45/1HD stake bed, 68HJ45, 72FJ40/13B-T - H41 tranny/pto - marks 23% OverDrive |

Cheers
, I put 430,000 Km on my 85 1ton 22RE engine years ago, then lost the truck to corrosion. I sold the engine later. Now my 84 BJ60 at 329,000 Km runs like a fine tuned John Deere and the body is in immaculate shape and so is the frame. Thanks for celebrating with us .

Surely, those Toyota engines are built for the long haul (and a lot of owners - though probably not all, sadly - give them the preventative maintenance they need to live a long and productive life!).
Good thing those high-mileage Cruisers didn't live out most of their lives in the current context of high fuel prices. Can you imagine what 700,000 miles of driving at the current price would represent in fuel costs alone??? Almost makes the initial purchase cost irrelevant! (not to mention all the maintenance and repairs/upgrades along the way). Still: a lot cheaper and a lot more self-satisfying (not to mention a lot healthier for environmental protection) to drive the same rig during all those years and miles, than do the no-brainer thing of getting a lease and trading it in every 2-3 years (I could NEVER picture myself transitioning to that type of car ownership - there must be some very deepset values at play here). __________________ Current rig(s): 1992 HZJ80 LHD 215Kms SOLD: 1982 BJ60 3B H42 230Kms and counting Still planning an expedition... |

, wow, that is 1.2 milions kilometer! How in the world could you put that much milage on a FJ40? that is a average of 22000 miles a years... I guess the FJ has been a DD for ever.!My truck has 172000km, if you consider i use it about 6000km per year and that i could reach, 500000 if not 1 mil......mmm....i guess i'll die before the truck isn't up the task anymore! I better start thinking who is going to get it! __________________ 1983 BJ42LV 3B turbo diesel, 5 speed, power steering 24V Viair 450C, ARB locker front/rear, OME Heavy 4.56 R&P, BF Mud 255/85 (34") Warn M12000 24Volt http://www.ericleblanc.com/gallery/m...p?g2_itemId=20 |

Thats amazing number. But was most of this highway miles? I suspect in parts of the world where the seasonal tempatures do not vary much a typical 3b may last to 1 million kms. I know of one case but most was highway miles. I have 400km on my truck now. Contemplating on selling it for a more comfortable 80 but dont like the looks of the 80 as it has that yuppie look
May think of a 70 series. Anyway congrats on the odomoter and the fact is still is driving

I had my seats completely reworked. With adjustable lumbar and heaters. made is darn comfy. the worst part of a 60 is the seats, awful flat and shapeless pieces of shit. MY BJ60 has only 240k kms on her.... I got a long way to go before 500k. My 80 has 184k miles....still super tight and strong running. MY mercedes diesel has 195k miles on her, runs solid too. Good vehicles are the my way of helping the environment. __________________ -84 BJ60, Finally on the FN road! -91 FJ80, wife's ride Iron Butt award winner of the Cruise Moab 08 ! |

In my case:-82 Benz diesel sedan, 210,000+ miles and going strong -92 Volvo wagon commuter/winter car, 200,000+ miles and going strong (for a while longer I hope!) -82 BJ60 (130,000 miles and will be going strong when I'm done checking everything out and fixing odds and ends). My 2 teenagers give me heck though for driving such "ugly old cars" (especially the Volvo)

I'm starting to think I was a little premature on the celebration. I am glad however to think that my 60 has many more miles left. Maybe I would have something to celebrate if I posted this milage on a Ford or Chevy board. The crazy part is that I have a brand new Matrix in my garage up on blocks because my wife prefers to drive the old 60 rather than something new. Mind you, I don't get to see much of my '77 fj45 in the summer as she always seems to need it more than I do. Thanks for all of the replies.
